Yeah, please don't ask me where this came from. I have no idea

I don't own these characters, they are unwilling puppets on my strings.

The day before the semifinals found Team Toguro sitting around a table in their hotel room. In front of them was a piece of paper with pictures of the members of Team Urameshi. They had been there for over an hour trying to decide who would fight each member.

They hadn't gotten very far.

"Just so we're clear," Younger Toguro said. "I'm fighting Urameshi and Genkai. Understood?"

There was a grumbling of agreement from the rest of the group.

"Ok. Now, like I said, I don't care who the rest of you fight, so I'll leave that for

you to decide." With that, he stood up and left. He had a book waiting for him in his room and he wanted to get back to finish it.

Silence fell on the group, but it didn't last long.

"I call the fox!" Karasu shouted, pointing to the picture of Kurama. Elder Toguro narrowed his eyes.

"Why do you want to fight him?"

Karasu shrugged. "He fascinates me. You saw him in his semifinal fight, didn't you?"

"Yes I did," Elder Toguro said, and then grinned maniacally. "That's why I'm going to fight him."

"What?" Karasu nearly shouted, sounding horrified. "But I called him!"

"Yes, but since you have to do what I say, it doesn't matter."

Karasu growled in frustration. "Why do you want to fight him?"

The older Toguro's grin widened. "He seems like he would be the most fun to play with out of the ones brother hasn't taken. Isn't that why you wanted him, Karasu?"

Karasu looked away angrily, because that had been another reason he wanted to fight Kurama.

Elder Toguro was not done goading, though. He reached down, picked up Kurama's picture, and held it up in Karasu's face. "If you want him so much, though, why don't you take him from me?"

Karasu looked like he was ready to do just that, but before he had the chance, a large barrier suddenly blocked his path.

Toguro glared at the two of them. "That's enough. Find a better way to settle this than fighting, because I don't want to clean up any blood on the floor." With that, he went back to finish his book.

Karasu and Elder Toguro looked at each other for a moment.

"So…" Karasu started. "How are we going to settle this?" They both looked stumped, because they had never settled an argument without violence before.

"Why not settle it with rock-paper-scissors?" Both of them turned to Bui, who had spoken for first time all night.

"That human game?" Elder Toguro sneered.

Bui just shrugged. "It's not violent, and the argument will be over quickly." He stood up. "As for me, I don't care who I fight, so I'll take whoever's leftover." Then he too was gone.

The remaining members' eyes met, and they shrugged before holding out their fists.

"Best two out of three?" Karasu offered.

Elder Toguro grinned again. "I certainly won't need it."

With that, the game began. Karasu threw out rock, while Elder Toguro used scissors.

Karasu beamed victoriously. "Glad I suggested the two out of three?"

Elder Toguro rolled his eyes, no longer grinning. "Just get on with it."

They ended up going all night because Karasu kept winning and Elder Toguro kept demanding rematches. They might have gone on well into the morning too if one of Elder Toguro's angry screeches hadn't woken up his brother. He came out of his room and forced the two demons to go to bed.

Karasu smiled at the picture of Kurama he had taken from the older Toguro brother. He couldn't wait for the finals, where he would face his fox on the battlefield. Of course, there was the matter of getting Kurama to fight him, but he wasn't worried. Karasu worked out a plan as he drifted off to sleep.
