This is a story about how Alex was taken from Danielle. The pieces of song used are from the song "Shh" by Frou Frou. This is just one chapter. Please R&R.
Dashing through the thick trees, hugging her precious bundle to her chest, Danielle tried to escape. She could hear the others approaching, thundering through the foliage.
Looking around desperately, Danielle spotted a thicket made up of very tall grass growing around a fallen tree.
Wading through the plants, the woman crouched under the protective braches of the tree, hidden from view.
Danielle gazed down at Alex, her beautiful week-old daughter. She knew she would protect this child with her life.
Alex began to cry softly.
"Hush, my darling, or they will find us!" Danielle crooned.
But the small child would not be pacified. It continued to wail, in louder tones.
Danielle rocked the baby in her arms. Frantically, she tried to think of a way to calm Alex. Finally, she brought the girl close to her face and whispered a song in her ear.
"Sunbeam, stop tugging me. Pull that door shut quietly. Darling, what are you doing? We don't have time for this."
Alex's cries reduced into whimpers. Off in the distance, Danielle heard the sounds of the others coming. Choking back a sob, she cradled her child closer and kept singing.
"Crazy, well what are you then? Give me an hour and I'll give you your dream."
Danielle could distinguish men's voices now. They were shouting to each other, asking which way they should go.
"Don't make a sound, shh listen. Keep your head down- we're not safe yet. Don't make a sound and be good for me. 'Cos I know they're waiting somewhere out here."
The others were twenty feet from them now. Danielle heard one of them yell "They're over here!"
Sobbing uncontrollably, the woman hugged her wailing baby to her chest. The others descended upon them, wrenching Alex from Danielle's arms. Screaming, the mother tried to fight back, but she was no match for the four men.
They knocked her to the ground and ran away.
Trembling, Danielle sat up and tried to see which way they had gone. But a thick fog had suddenly filled the thicket, making it impossible to follow a trail.
The woman rocked back and forth, tears making trails through the dirt on her face.
In a broken voice, she finished the song.
"I feel good all over. I feel good all over. I feel good all over. Wear your inside out."
