"Merlin" Arthur yelled as she shoved the dead bandit to the forest floor.

"Merlin stay with me, please hang in there."

"I will get you to Gaius just hang in a bit longer" Arthur said as he bent down to pick up his servant.

"Arthur it is a two day ride for here" merlin said as he chocked and blood began to poor from his mouth.

The bandits had beaten him up pretty badly and he was bleeding form the inside.

"Merlin" Arthur yelled as merlins eyes closed for a few seconds.

"Arthur please stay with me, and hold me" merlin whispered.

Arthur nodded and slid down to the ground and rested his back to a tree and moved merlin so he had his back against Arthur's chest.

Merlin took a couple of hard breaths and rested his head on arthur's shoulder and stared in his friends shocked blue eyes, he did not want his friend to worry so he came up with some thing to make him laugh.

"Arthur promise me that you will try to be not so much of a prat to your next servant" merlin said as he started to cough again.

Arthur started to laugh as she said "Okay I will try, but I am sure I will never find one as

bad as you, you know you have been the worse servant ever, you know that right?" "Merlin" Arthur said as he looked down at the small figure in his lap he looked so small and peaceful there like he was sleeping.

Arthur quickly checked for a pulse there was none nor a heart beat.

"Merlin please wake up, why won't you wake up please come back to me merlin" Arthur cried not caring any more he let the tears run free.

Arthur stayed like that the rest of the night, not even moving to make a fire or to eat; he welcomed the pain of hunger and the cold of the rain that fell from a starless night.

The next morning Arthur woke to a bright full morning.

"Merlin close those curtains up" Arthur muttered.

Forgetting the day before, once he had fully awaken he realized his dead friend still in his lap.

"Oh Merlin" he started to cry again as he moved his friend.

"You know nothing will be the same again so I hope you can hear me merlin for I want you to know that my love for you was never fake" Arthur said staring up to the sky, "I

miss you merlin, you were the only one who understood me, even though we gave each other a hard time you were my true friend" arthur said as he put merlin on his horse and tied Merlin's to his, but then he stopped and untied it and took off it's saddle and harness.

"There you go be free, at least one of us can be" Arthur said as he watch it run.

He then climbed on his horse with merlin in front of him as he made his way back to Camelot.
