It's her choice. She has the option of showing up tonight - or not showing up at all. She might be a little too honourable to stand me up, but I'm never sure.

Just because she shows up out of politeness doesn't mean anything. It might not actually mean anything at all. She's still got the choice to decide which way this goes - or doesn't go.

The noise of the buzzer from the entryway downstairs draws me back into reality. She's here.

When I let her in, she looks around and then grins at me. "Didn't think I was going to stand you up, did you, John?"

So now I know she's made her choice.
