Authoress's notes: yep, yet another song of a Bride of Dracula. This time it's Verona's PoV, for sure. And I was actually at school when this hit me. Pity the muse stopped in the middle. Heh.

Disclaimer: I don't own Van Helsing (even though he's only mentioned here indirectly) or Dracula (likewise) or Verona. That belongs to Universal Pictures and Stephen Sommers. Lucky them...

Rating: PGish.

Spoilers: none, unless you count the mention of Dracula having three brides... -shrugs-

Death is not for me

And yet, neither is life.

You already have two more;

But I was your first wife.

Our children are born dead;

I think it's only fair.

To try another birthing –

I hardly even dare.

For we are the Undead,

Hideous bat-like creatures

With grey skin and wings –

Such distorted features.

Once I was a mortal,

Now I'm everlasting.

And yet I am condemned:

To drinking blood – or fasting.

You still are beautiful;

Age has not yet touched you.

But still you bear the hatred,

For him – the one who killed you.

The Left Hand of God...

That is what you say.

I do not speak of it,

Lest you slip away.
