Prologue

"Come on Ellie," my friend Draco said, "we're going to be late for the train!"

"I'm coming Draco! You're the one who has the longer legs than me!"

"Alright, I'll wait." I was only four foot five inches, quite short for an eleven year old, even more so when compared to your five foot two best friend. "It's about time you caught up," Draco said to me. "Come on, you know I'm just joking, hey there's a compartment." We took our carry-ons and stowed them above our seat and waited for the long train ride to Hogwarts to be over.

"Hey Draco," I said.

"Yeah Ellie?"

"What if we're put into different houses? I already know that you'll get Slytherin, but I have no idea what I'll get put into."

"Don't worry Ellie, you'll be fine, although I do hope that you'll get Slytherin. But remember, we made a promise to stay friends no matter what house we're put in."

"Ok, thanks Draco."

The Feast

It was almost time for us to be sorted and Draco and I saw the oh-so-famous Harry Potter. Apparently this was his first year too but who knows about his character? As far as I know, he grew up with muggles, unlike me and Draco, who are both purebloods. Unfortunately though, Draco is a bit prejudice and decided to go up with two dumb arses and try to get him on our side the wrong way. When he came back, he was fuming because he got shown up by Potter and a Weasley. Soon enough though, it was time to go into the Great Hall to be sorted.

As soon as the sorting hat finished its song, Professor McGonagall began calling off names. All too soon however she called Draco's name, and I knew that I was next.

"Draco Malfoy." Draco stepped up and almost as soon as the hat touched his head, it shouted out for the whole school to hear, 'SLYTHERIN!' He gave me a smile and walked to the Slytherin table.

"Elianna Moore." I walked up and sat down. The hat mumbled to itself for a couple of seconds and then shouted out, 'GRYFFINDOR!' I looked over at Draco and shrugged. He looked disappointed in me and I felt pretty bad for him because we had been friends since we could toddle. I then hopped off the stool and walked over to the Gryffindor table where Harry Potter and Ron Weasley would soon join me.
