Author's Note: Ooh, so close! The word limit is supposed to be 250 words—at least this is closer to that goal than my previous attempt! And I'm surprised—where are all the Scarface fics?
Movie Night
Marconi walked into the DVD rental store.
A rapidly balding man was standing behind the till. Marconi went over to him. He pointed a gun at the man and he froze on the spot. Shouting for everyone to put their hands in the air was not Marconi's style—he pretended the gun wasn't in his hand at all as he fished out a piece of paper and slid it across the counter. The man picked it up in trembling hands, sweat beginning to trickle down his forehead.
"P-popcorn?" the man stammered, looking at Marconi uncertainly. "Wh-what kind?"
Marconi thought for a moment—the Boss hadn't been clear on that point. "Toffee," he said. The man fetched him a bag of toffee popcorn. "And salted," Marconi added—best to cover both bases.
"Ok-kay," the man said and he fetched the salted popcorn too. He checked the shopping list again and suddenly appeared even more terrified, if it was possible. "We, er... we don't have Tarzan."
With a sigh Marconi phoned the Boss. "Hey, Boss. Yeah, I'm there now. Uh-huh. They say they don't have Tarzan—what would you like instead? Yeah." He turned to the terrified man at the till. "You have The Lion King?" The man nodded vigorously and Marconi listened again to the Boss. "Lion King 2?" he asked the man, who once again nodded. "Okay, yes. I'll be there soon." He hung up the phone as the man scurried to fetch the requested DVDs.
Marconi was so good at armed robbery by this point that none of the other customers in the store noticed the robbery taking place. A woman and her kid stood behind Marconi as if in a queue, the kid with a handful of DVDs.
"Give the kid a candy bar," Marconi ordered the man at the till.
The man's hands were still shaking. He tossed a bar of candy at the kid who caught it with his spare hand. The mom smiled at Marconi.
He collected his swag—this week's movie night was gonna be good.
Marconi walked out of the DVD rental store.
