Fang had always been the strong silent type, and at certain times, it bothered Iggy. Iggy tried his hardest to not let his loss of sight to affect him, to ruin his life. He tried to look on the bright side. He wasn't a starving child in Africa with no family or friends. However he was a mutant bird freak, who'd gone through worst then hell at the School. That qualified for a pretty negative attitude. But Fang, he never showed any emotion, whether in good or bad situations. And Iggy was tired of it.
Iggy had been in love with Fang for a long while. Practically over a year. But he kept quiet, and simply lived in the shadow of Max and waited until she needed him for some specific purpose. He'd pondered the correct way to tell Fang his feelings, but he realized that if he simply told him, Fang probably wouldn't respond, and would forget what had happened.
One night, as the flock sat around the fire, roasting marshmallows, Fang got up, muttering something about a walk, and disappeared into the trees. Iggy saw an opportunity and quickly jumped to his feet and made an excuse about needing to speak to Fang about something important, however it wasn't exactly a lie.
"Fang?" he asked, trying to hear the footsteps of the other fourteen year old.
He heard a shuffle from behind him, and heard the soft voice of Fang, "What?"
"C-can I talk to you?" Iggy asked quietly. He heard Fang sigh and decided that was his answer of 'Yes, but make it fast'. Iggy took a deep breath, searching for the right words, but he couldn't find any. He reached his hands out, feeling for Fang, and soon was touching the fabric of his T-shirt. He slowly raised his hand over Fang's cheek, then, he leaned in, and kissed him.
Fang stiffened, clearly shocked. But, to Iggy's surprise, he didn't pull away. In fact, Fang relaxed against Iggy, even wrapped his arm around him slightly. At length, they parted.
Fang didn't speak; he just stood there less then a foot away from him. Iggy sighed, "Say something, damn it."
"You kissed me," Fang whispered.
"Thanks for the news bulletin," Iggy said bitterly. Was Fang really going to do this? Just act like nothing just happened, like they didn't just kiss.
"What do you want me to say?" Fang asked.
"I donno. Anything. What you're thinking," Iggy replied. Fang didn't say a word. Iggy groaned, "Jeez, nevermind." He turned, but Fang grabbed his arm. Iggy felt Fang moving about him, and then Fang's finger lifted Iggy's head, and a pair of warm lips were on his once again.
Iggy let the warmth travel through his body. It seemed to make his pants feel a wee bit tighter then usual, but Fang just had that affect on him.
"Well?" Fang said, after pulling back.
Iggy said, in a dazed, absent voice, "You kissed me."
"Stating the obvious a bit tonight, aren't we?" Fang laughed. Iggy loved his laugh.
"What about Max? The rest of the flock?" Iggy asked, "Angel will know we kissed." Fang simply laughed again and led Iggy back to the group, his arm tightly around Iggy's shoulder.
