This is the most random thing that I've come up with and it's also the beginning of a series of drabbles/oneshots that I'm going to do for Rin/Sesshomaru.
Warning: Mood swings! :)
Hope you like and don't forget to review :D
Disclaimer: I'll only say this once: I don't own Inuyasha and friends. Thanks :p
Jaken's face was undoubtedly priceless as his eyes widened and his jaw became slack at the one word that tumbled out of Rin's mouth, strong and proud; "No."
Jaken thought no one would ever say no to his lord and live to tell the tale. His lord Sesshomaru was much too heartless to spare a person out of mercy. Jaken could tell that Sesshomaru's thoughts were along the lines of Jaken's, because Sesshomaru's eyes were opened wider and his mouth open slightly; the look of his lord's complete confusion and surprise.
Sesshomaru was trying to get Rin to stay at the campsite and not be a bother while he was fighting - although he definitely didn't word it that way.
Jaken knew that children had a time in their lives where they didn't like to do what they were told and they didn't like to do anything that didn't amuse or excite them. But Jaken had always thought that Rin had already had her phase, or that she simply wouldn't have it; she seemed like such an obedient child.
"...What?" Sesshomaru asked her, trying to make his voice sound steely and hard, but it came out surprised and confused.
"I don't want to stay here. I want to go with you," Rin persisted, her eyebrows coming together and her eyes becoming almost as hard as Sesshomaru's when he was angry.
"Rin, you have to stay here; listen to me!" He was hanging on a thread. He wasn't a father and he definitely wasn't a good older brother.
"I don't want to!" She fought back.
"Rin, I'm not going to stand for this; I tell you the truth, if you keep making a fuss, I'll stick you in a village nearby. I can't have you getting hurt just because you won't listen to me and stay put."
It was the longest sentence that both Rin and Jaken had ever heard, but they both knew he was telling the truth. Jaken knew that it would most definitely hurt his lord, now that Jaken knew how much his lord actually cares for Rin.
Rin's eyes went wide and they became very wet and watery. Jaken's lord, once again, became surprised and freaked out at the tiny tears that were forming on the little girl's eyes. "You...you don't want me anymore?" she asked, clearly heartbroken by Sesshomaru's statement.
Sesshomaru was clearly freaking out inside. His eyes were wide and his mouth slack, his arm was reaching out just slightly, as if he were going to pull her into a hug, but was hesitating because he didn't want to show his "servants" that side of himself.
"Ah - Rin, it's not that I don't, er, want you. It's just that I can't have you following me onto battle, and if you keep it up, I can't take the risk of you getting pummeled by a demon. Got it?"
Rin stopped crying and looked at him, happiness showing on her face.
"Okay!" she exclaimed cheerfully. "I'll stay here!"
She grinned at her lord and he made a noise in the back of his throat, completely baffled by her mood swings.
"Come, Jaken," he demanded walking away, as Jaken clambered after him.
