ONLY USE YOUR OWN COINS
by Vicki Vance
Oscar and Lucinda. My friend Galaxylei begged and begged and begged so I wrote a fanfic for her. It's about Oscar and gambling.
Rated G because Oscar is so innocent it's makes me itchy.
Disclaimer: I don't own Oscar and Lucinda. I am making no profit off of this.

A flutter.

I have engaged myself in more ways than one with that word. As the racing horses thunder by, pounding the earth with their hooves, sending clumps of dark soil flying into the air, my heart flutters with them.

I am not afraid of what I do but my heart does tremble in the presence of the Lord. For I know He is here with me, for I win through His power and unyielding grace, so that I may give all the excess of my earnings to His church.

The Lord is my shepherd and He gives me the insight I need to win in His glory. My Lord points out to me which horse will cross the line first or which hand to keep or which number to chose. He even tells me whether the head or the tail is more useful in that circumstance. I am blind without my Lord and I give all my credit unto Him.

God has taught me trust Him in all things, and I do pray Fish would learn this. Fish refuses to trust the Lord, to blindly and with full faith follow His signs, which is why he doesn't win as often as I. Fish refuses to use anyone else's coins, dice, or cards, for he is afraid of cheating. But, surely if you should trust Him without hesitation, the Lord would allow you to win at any simple, petty game.

But Fish doubts the Lord and that is why he loses.

Any and all coins are the Lord's coins and coins that are good enough for the Lord are good enough for me.

Fish, can't you see, how to win? You win through the Lord. He gives you the strength and you accept it. Through him, through yourself, you do the good for the world He so wants us to do.

When you only use your own coins, you are rejecting the Lord. Surely, all you have learned contradicts this final conclusion of mine.

Ahh, the horse called David's Dash has just crossed the finish line first. Exactly like King David who wrote all the Psalms. That was how I knew he would win.

My goodness, I am all a flutter. I must be in the presence of great power.

Amen.
