Love, Loss and Dance
Leaving the noise and excitement of the New York City streets behind her, Jody Sawyer walked into her apartment. She set her bag down on the table and glanced at the clock. 3 p.m.. The blonde ballerina had just gotten back from rehearsal. Flopping down onto the couch she picked up the phone and dialed Charlie's cell phone. It rang twice before he picked it up.
"Hello?"
Jody shifted positions. "Hey, it's me."
"Jody, hi. Where are you?"
"I just got home. You still in rehearsal?"
"Nope. We just finished. I should be home in about 20 minutes." The two had moved in together a month ago.
"Kay. I'll see you then. Bye."
"Bye. I love you."
"I love you too." Jody hung up the phone and stood up. She headed toward the bathroom. As she was running the water in the bathtub she heard the phone ringing. She quickly turned of the water and jumped up to answer the phone. "Hello?", she said catching her breath.
"Jody? Hello. It's Jonathan."
"Oh, Jonathan, hi. Um, Charlie isn't home yet, but I can tell him you called."
"Thanks for the offer, but actually I called to talk to you."
Jody was flustered. "What about?"
"It's the kind of thing best said in person. Would you be able to come by my office around 10:30 tomorrow?"
"Sure, I guess. So I'll see you then."
"Great. I'll be waiting. Goodbye."
"Bye." Jody hung up. What could Jonathan Reeves possibly want to talk to me about?
