Damon had spent the last two hours at Alaric's house, looking in old books for any answers on how to kill Klaus. He felt like it was no use anyhow, his mind was still playing the events from last night with Elena. He had kissed her, and he was pleasantly surprised when she hadn't pulled back. After leaving her on the front porch, Damon went straight back home to figure everything out. He loved her. He loved her so much that he didn't know what he would do if she got hurt. Damon was still pissed at the fact that she gave Klaus back his sister, there was no doubt in his mind that she would come after her, with or without Klaus's consent. Taking a deep breath, Damon opened the front door at the boarding house with his free hand, the other holding four old books.

Closing the door behind him, Damon was shocked to see Elena standing in the hall just a few feet away from him. He noticed that she looked nervous, did something happen? "What's going on Elena? Is someone hurt? Is it Jeremy?" he spoke up, trying to break the silence lingering in the air. Elena pulled a small piece of hair from her face, bringing it behind her hair. It took everything in him not to walk over to her and taking her in his arms. He heard her clear her throat and Damon's eyes locked with hers, making her heart beat faster. He held back a smirk, loving how he could have this effect on her.

"I need to speak to you." She finally spoke up and looked away from him. Damon was about to walk over to her when Elena brought her hand up, telling him to stop. "Please don't come near me, Damon." Damon was beyond confused at this point, why didn't she want him near her? Was it because of the kiss? "I-I have to be honest with you." Elena's voice lowered as she looked up again, her eyes meeting his intensively. "I didn't sleep last night, I stayed up thinking about our kiss…" she took a deep breath and Damon watched as a weak smile appeared on her lips. "For the last few months, I've been trying to push back feelings that I shouldn't be feeling towards you. I…When we kissed it was like everything became clear to me. I know that you care about me, Damon. You've been there when Stefan wasn't, you saved me so many times that I lost count. I shouldn't feel this way about you because you're Stefan's brother and I know that this isn't right for me to say. I don't want you to think that I'm like Katherine… loving both brothers."

Damon's ears perked up as she mentioned the word love, was she about to say what he thought she would? At this point, Elena's heart rate was going so fast that it began to worry him. "I wanted to thank you…" she paused again and brought her arms to her sides. "And…I-I wanted to tell you, I love you. I love you, Damon." she bit her lip and waited for his reaction.

Damon couldn't take it anymore. He quickly made his way towards her, dropping the books on the table in the process, before standing completely in front of Elena. He couldn't believe this was happening, for so long he wanted those words to come out of her mouth, and now it finally was.

Damon brought his hand to her cheek and stroked it softly with his thumb. "You don't know how long I was waiting for this to happen, Elena." he spoke up and brought his forehead against hers. Elena's arms wrapped around his waist, her eyes never leaving his. "I'm sorry for making you wait this long then." She whispered softly. And with that Elena stood on the tip of her toes and pressed her lips to his.
