NOTE: I am writing this with a friend. It is a crossover between two of our favorite classic Disney movies, the barefoot executive and the computer wore tennis shoes! Enjoy! :) Please R&R!
It was an ordinary quiet Friday night after night school. Steve Post had rushed to the local department store to do some quick shopping before it closed. It was the only chance he had to buy a birthday gift for his girlfriend's pet chimp, Raffles. Jen, Steve's girlfriend, had established a day for the chimp's birthday and invited Steve for the party.
Steve knew Raffles would never forgive him if he showed up with no gift. Besides, today was the last day of the children's clothing sale and Jen had her eye on a knit sweater in the window that she only dreamed of buying for her beloved chimp. Steve knew he had to get the sweater for the chimp, plus, it and a bunch of bananas would be his ticket to spending a whole afternoon with Jen.
He was the only person in the store and the manager seemed to be in a hurry to leave. He peered over Steve's shoulder the whole time as he browsed for the sweater.
"Are you done, yet?" The angry manager asked.
Steve hung his head. "I can't leave until I find the right sweater."
"We close in five minutes!" The ruddy-faced man tapped the face of his wristwatch furiously.
"I know, sir, but-" Steve turned to point to the sweater in the window and stopped. Something caught his eye. On the other side of the store window, a boy that looked exactly like him was looking eye-to-eye with him. "Holy cow, what is that?"
"What is what sir?"
"That…" Steve's voice trailed off. He didn't know what to think of his 'reflection man' and was just as awed as he was confused.
"If that is the last sweater in this store, I promise, I will personally get it for you so you can let me go home!"
He nodded half-heartedly and approached the glass. The man outside didn't move. Steve knew he had to talk to him.
"Yeah, I'll take the sweater."
"Good." The manager snatched the little knit shirt from the display and tugged Steve up to the front checkout. "Would you like it gift wrapped?"
"Oh, yes please, sir!"
The manager quickly packed up the chimp's gift and charged Steve. "Goodnight, sir."
"Goodnight." Steve snatched up his purchase and rushed out the door to meet his 'reflection', but when he rounded the corner, his 'twin' was gone.
