Chapter 1
The rain fell hard as I ran deeper and deeper into the forest. 'I have got
to escape' I thought. Faster and faster I ran. As fast as my feet would
take me. "Get out of here, you thief." I would hear in the distance. I tripped over a vine in the ground. I looked up and saw nothing but leaves on the trees high above me. I lay there for a few minutes feeling sorry for myself. 'I will run no more. I have to fight.' I thought. I quickly got up
and pulled out my sword. "Come and get me," I yelled. They came running toward me. I held my sword out in front of me. " I will defeat you all!" I yelled. They got closer and closer. I jumped up onto a tree branch. "Get down here and fight, you thief!" they yelled. I jumped down. "Why do you want to kill me? I only stole some herbs for my friend." I said," Why kill me for that. Here, take them." I handed the herbs out to them. They refused
to take them.
"You didn't just take the herbs, you kidnapper." "What are you talking about?" "Look behind you, you idiot!" one of the villagers said. I looked behind me and saw a little girl. "Oh, come on! Why would I steal a little girl? Take her!!" I yelled. I quickly put the herbs into my bag. I jumped onto a high tree branch and ran off, jumping on any thing I could find. Hi. My name is Karee Higorashi. I am what you would call a warrior princess. I travel though villages saving people and things like that. My mother and
father were killed in a battle. My father made me promise that I would become a warrior. I fulfilled his wish. My friend, Kira, is the only one
of my kind left. "Hi!" I said when I returned to our home. "How are you feeling?" "Fine, I guess," she said. Her voice was shaky. "I brought the herbs. Now, let me go mix the herbs with water so you can drink instead of eating them." I ran outside, quickly got some water, and ran back inside. I heated the water over a fire, and mixed them together with a stick. "Here you go," I said as I served her the water in half of a coconut. She sipped
it slowly and then drifted of to sleep.
