Summary: Getting up can be hard...

------------------------------------------------

He slept peacefully, curled up on his left side, one arm tucked under his head. His chest rose softly, then fell again. It was still early on this beautiful morning in late August. The curtains were drawn, blocking the first rays of the sun. It was a Monday, one of those days that seemed perfect right from the beginning.

On the ground floor, Kate switched on the coffee maker before heading into the bathroom. She had waited for this day to come and was anxious how it would be. Humming a soft melody she pulled her hair up into a ponytail and walked into the dressing room. She picked a pair of black dress pants and a white blouse for herself before picking out a pair of jeans and a blue shirt. Walking back upstairs she opened a door and put the clothes onto the bed before turning to the sleeping figure. "Jethro, it´s time to get up." She called softly and smiled when he started to stir.

He tried to pull the covers back over his head and groaned. "Nooo! Five more minutes!" He begged and kept his eyes closed tightly.

Kate sat down on the edge of the bed and ran her hand through his hair. "No, right now, Mister. Breakfast will be ready in 10 minutes and you know we have to be on time today. You don´t want to be late on your first day, do you?" She asked and was rewarded by a pout.

"Do I have to go?" He asked as he sat up and looked at her with his blue eyes. "I don´t want to go! What if they don´t like me?"

With a sigh, Kate got up again and put her hands into her hips. "Jethro Thomas Gibbs, you will get up right now." She told him and watched him crawl out of his bed, heading straight for the bathroom with his clothes in one hand.

There was a chuckle from the door. "I almost thought you would need help there." A voice told her and she spun around. A pair of ice blue eyes sparkled at her. "First day of school really is a big step for him. I can´t believe time is passing so quickly."

Kate walked over and placed a kiss on his lips. "I bet you were just the same on your first day of school, Leroy Jethro Gibbs." She told her husband and disappeared into the hallway with a smile on her face.
