- Potter don ' t ! Lily ' s scream was drowned in the sound which followed : a loud BANG ! Green smoke covered the hole dungeon and when the smoke faded away , the hole class could
see that James and lily were drenched in a green , slimy mud .
lily ' s body was shaking with anger . Not saying anything , she gave James a look that could kill . James turned to Slughorn :
- Professor Slughorn , can you excuse us , we have to go and shower this greenly icky stuff of ourselves . Slughorn didn ' t get a chance to answer as Lily had found her voice and had
started screaming :
- We are not going to shower together Potter , I am going to take a shower , and you Potter , you can go and drown yourself in the lake ! Lily furiously stormed out of the dungeon .
James stood there , smiling , not hurt by her outburst , only grinning because Evans had considered the thought of showering with him .
- Hey Prongs ! Sirius shouted to his best friend
- yes , padfoot ?
- Say hello to the squid for me ! Shaking his head , James left the dungeon .
James ran through the castle . He took every shortcut that he knew to catch up with lily but she had already made it to the head dorms that they shared .
James called out to lily :
- Are you there ?
- Yes Potter , and don ' t speak to me .
- Lily , I ' m sorry for the potion . I ' ll talk with Slughorn later . Don ' t be mad because one potion class went wrong ! James regretted his words as soon as he saw Lily ' s reaction .
- Just one potion class went wrong , Potter ? Her voice was rising .
- Do you know what you have put me through in the last 6 years ? You have tormented my life , for five years you have made it a living hell !
First you prank me and humiliate me for two years , then it finally stops but that ' s not it ! You start asking me out , not once , not twice but fifty times a day for the past 3 years and
above all that , you ruin my love life by threatening every guy who looks at me ! Lily stopped for a second to catch her breath , and then she continued, her voice shaking :
- You have ignored me for the last six months , being a really nice guy . And then you go and ruin it by destroying my chances to get any grade in potions this year !
I have had it , you have done it all James , I hate you ! Lily leaves for the bathroom , slamming the door shut behind her .
James was now stunned and confused . Slowly, his mind worked out lily ' s speech . Since when did she care about him not giving her any attention ?
She was hurt because he had treated her like anybody else , she really thought he had become a nice guy and she had called him James !
Her words did not make any sense , first she declared her hatred for me then she . . . By Merlin ' s flowery underpants ! Lily Evans loved him !
All right that ' s maybe a bit quick but she does feel something for him . With new confidence James walked to the bathroom and opened the door .
Lily was sitting on the bathroom floor in the shower , the water running down her red hair and shoulders , her robes soaking wet . She was crying , his lily - flower was crying because
of him . James knelt in front of her and lifted her chin so she met his eyes and said with a soft voice :
- Lil ' s , are you falling for me ? Her emerald green eyes sparkled and she did not hesitate as she answered :
- yes , I am falling for you .
She gave him a little smile .
