This is the first day of my life

Crowley opened the door of his Bentley 1926 and slid into the driver's seat. It was two or some days after the very near Apocalypse.

Swear I was born right in the doorway

He placed the key in the ignition and turned; the car started up with a familiar whirring sound.

I went out in the rain
suddenly everything changed, they're
spreadin' blankets on the beach

He let out a relaxed sigh as he drove past the shops in Soho, not entirely sure as to where he was headed.

Yours is the first face that I saw
think I was blind before I met you

As if the car was driving its self, it pulled up right in front of a shop, a bookshop-- Aziraphale's bookshop, to be precise.

I don't know where I am
I don't know where I've been
but I know where I want to go

Crowley, slightly amused at the fact that he'd indeed driven himself here, stayed in his car, and shook his head.

"You moron, what good do you think it'll do to keep after that angel?" he asked himself.

So I thought I'd let you know
these things take forever
I especially am slow

He sighed heavily and debated between getting out of the car or just staying there like the idiot he was. He went with the latter.

but I realize that I need you
and I wondered if I could come home

Crowley moved his fingers around the cool metal key, but couldn't bring himself to turn it and drive away. He loved Aziraphale too much.

Remember the time you drove all night
just to meet me in the morning

Meanwhile, in the bookshop, Aziraphale was sitting at the front counter after just having told off one of his customers. He was idly reading through a book when something large and black caught his eye…

And I thought it was strange
you said everything changed
you felt as if you'd just woke up

Aziraphale tilted himself to the right to get a better view from outside the window. Black... He did a double take and his eyebrows knitted together in confusion; he wondered what the Bentley was doing here… and why Crowley hadn't left the driver's seat.

and you said,
this is the first day of my life,
I'm glad I didn't die before I met you
but now I don't care I could go anywhere
with you
and I'd probably be happy.

Aziraphale sighed and stood up, a knowing smile gracing his angelic (and literally too) lips. He closed his book, and walked towards the door, grabbing his coat along the way.

so if you wanna be with me
with these things there's no telling
we just have to wait and see
but I'd rather be working for a paycheck
than waiting to win the lottery

Crowley was, more or less, surprised when Aziraphale came sauntering casually out of his bookstore, down to the Bentley, opened the passenger seat door, and slid in.

"Well, my dear, fancy seeing you here… nice day, out, yes? What do you say we go to Hyde Park? It is, after all, a sin in my book to waste a perfectly good day…"

Aziraphale smiled at the somewhat startled-looking demon sitting in the passenger seat. His hand moved towards Crowley's, which was still holding the key in the ignition, and turned it, starting up the car once again.

"So, what do you say, my dear?"

besides maybe this time it's different
I meant I really think you like me...
