Hey guys, long time no see! I'm so sorry for anyone awaiting updates for any of my unfinished stories, i am notoriously inconsistent. The plot for The Morgan Family Luck has been outlined for years-one day ill get writing it again...
This is a prompt I've had written for AGES. The idea for a completely new story hit me one day, and this is just a random scene I managed to write. Feel free to interpret this how you would like, but if you ever see me launch a new fic titled "Navigation", await this exact passage maybe five chapters in! -KMx
"Hey," he hesitates, his voice suddenly dry. "I love you, alright?"
He can just faintly hear her swallow, and then her parting sentence crackles wearily from the phone.
"I'll see you around, Zach."
And he's left staring at the lock screen-coincidentally a picture of the two of them with Bex, a favourite of his since it was taken just over a year ago. He can't subdue the fond grin that creeps almost unwillingly onto his face at the familiar sight.
But underneath his reminiscing, what his mind won't let him ignore, is that for the first time in three, or is it four?-years, she's hung up without telling him she loves him.
And maybe, for other friends, this wouldn't be a big deal. Perhaps other friends don't say that to each other every day, thrown around almost as nonchalantly as a simple "hey", but always spoken fervently.
Maybe he's twisting the situation out of proportion.
If that's the case, why does he feel like something's out of place?
He wants, no demands, an explanation for the uncomfortable tightening of his throat, the choking gloom that's suddenly settled deep, deep into his chest.
And why can't he let go of his phone?
