A/N: I do not own Wicked, which belongs to Gregory Maguire, nor do I own tea.

Glinda watched her roommate take tiny, almost tentative, sips of tea. Elphaba, on the other hand, seemed determined to ignore her roommate, who, by no invitation from Elphaba, seemed determined to follow Elphaba everywhere she went. This was all done by Miss Glinda with seemingly no concern for her reputation, which was getting more and more tarnished every day.

"Miss Glinda,"

"I thought we were past honorifics, Elphie," Glinda smiled sweetly before taking a ladylike sip from her cup. Elphaba blinked, then scowled.

"Listen, just because Boq--"

"I don't call you Elphie because Boq does. I thought it was cute. It's rather less harsh than Elphaba, don't you think?"

"Harsh?" for a moment, a very rare moment, Elphaba was rather lost for words, "...My name is not harsh,"

"It's long, if you'll admit that much," when Elphaba said nothing, Glinda added, "It is quite a lot of syllables,"

"Need I remind you? Your given name has three syllables, as well, Ga-lin-da," another sip of tea. Elphaba made a face when it burned her lips.

"Had. Need I remind you? My name is Glinda. Glin-da. It's only got two now. How is you are able to drink tea, but not water?" Glinda asked. She'd had an ample amount of time to study her roommate's habits, enough time to notice that, while Elphie didn't dare go near water, she was particularly...fresh smelling. Sandalwood, if Glinda had to put a name to the smell.

"Tea isn't completely water," Elphaba shrugged after a long moment, "I can drink milk, too,"

"Milk isn't the same. Tea is just, well it's just leaves and water. How is it you're able to drink it without getting burned?"

"It's not pure water,"

"It might as well be. The water in our dorm's probably got loads of minerals and things in it. That's hardly pure water,"

"Please be sure to fetch me when you get a head full of leaves the next time you've showered. It'd be a sight I wouldn't miss for all of Oz," she was getting defensive, Elphaba knew, and when that happened, she tended to get a bit...snippy.

"Well I was only wondering!" Glinda said, and, angrily gathering her things, immediately made her way from the little tea shop.

Scowling, Elphaba drained the rest of her tea, and left some money on the table. Honestly, Glinda got worked up about the silliest things.

A/N: This was inspired by a little debate my friends and I got in after we saw Wicked a few weeks ago. Needless to say, the musical was fabulous.
