Aunt Who?

A/N: Just a little something that occurred to me when thinking about the Evans girls…

Dumbledore swung past the Gryffindor table, tapping Harry on the shoulder as he did so. "Could you come with me for a moment?"

"Yes, sir." Harry responded, standing and following the headmaster out into the corridor.

Dumbledore led Harry into an unused classroom down the hall and magicked the door shut. After they'd taken seats, he spoke. "Now. We've done a little research and have discovered that you do not have to return to the Dursleys' this summer."

Harry's eyes widened in joy. "Really?"

"Yes. Your mother, as it turns out, was not a Muggle-born. She was a halfbreed."

"One of my mother's parents was wizarding?"

Dumbledore nodded. "Your grandfather was a squib, and so he was sent to live with a Muggle family, so that he wouldn't feel left out when his peers began practising their magic.

"Do you know what year your grandfather died?"

Harry shook his head. "No, sir."

"It was early in 1980. He was killed by Voldemort's followers, who thought that he could tell them where your mother and father were. But he couldn't, so they killed him.

"However, before he died, he had a, shall we say, mistress, whom he left pregnant. Pregnant with your aunt."

"My aunt? But that would make her . . ."

"Your age. Yes. In fact, she's a student here at Hogwarts. But we think that her family may be preferable to the Dursleys, and I hope you won't disagree when you find out . . ."

He was interrupted by a knock on the door. "Alohomora!" He incanted, pointing his wand at the door, which opened with a quiet snick.

Standing in the corridor was Snape. At his side was Pansy Parkinson.

Harry expected Dumbledore to reprimand him for the interruption, but instead he said, "Severus! You're just in time. Lovely to see you this morning, Miss Parkinson."

They walked into the room and Dumbledore said with a smile. "Pansy Parkinson, I'd like to introduce you to your nephew, Harry Potter."

Is this going to be an ongoing thing? I don't know. I might be inspired to pick it up again later, but for now I just wanted to get this out of the way.
