Summer afternoon conversations

AN: Hello, and thank you for being interested enough to try and see whether or not you like this story. I hope you'll enjoy the reading.

Disclaimer: I do not own Bleach, nor any of its characters

It was a peaceful afternoon, and Orihime felt safe, with his arm wrapped around her body. She felt the sun warm and a pleasant breeze brush her skin.

She looked at his hands, which lay on her tummy, and at his fingers and saw on one of them the golden ring that was identical to the ring on her finger.

She closed her eyes for a second, and listened to the chirping of the birds and the rustling of the leaves in that pleasant breeze. Then she batted her eyelids open again, shifted on his lap, and attempted to look backwards, at the face of the man on whose lap she was sitting.

"Say, Ichigo…" she said, and she hesitated to go on. She had been thinking about this matter for a while now, and she had finally mustered up the courage to ask him, and now she still daren't do this. I have to be brave, just like I was when I finally confessed to Ichigo. Hmm… Hadn't it been a sunny day too? Which reminds me, it's warm and sunny today, so when the laundry is done washing, I can hang it outside to dry. And afterwards, we could have some ice-cream. Ice-cream, what a great idea! I could really go for that now. I wonder which flavor I should have…

"Ok… What wrong Orihime?" Ichigo had first looked down at her a bit worriedly, but then his look changed to puzzlement as he saw Orihime getting lost in her thoughts again.

Orihime finally snapped out of her trance when she heard his voice call her name, and slightly flushed when she realized her thoughts had trailed off again.

She gathered her courage back again, and asked him. "Well, Ichigo, don't you think it's about time we have children?" The words rolled out of her mouth rather quick, but she was satisfied that she had at least been able to finally ask him. Clearly.

Ichigo knew this question would came up sooner or later. It's not like he didn't want children of course, he had since long ago decided that when Orihime would ask him directly, he'd go along. He had been longing to have a child with her, and frankly it was only that thing holding him back, and letting him avoid the 'baby-subject'. He didn't want his fear for that overcome his desire to have children, so he said, "Yeah, Orihime, I think it's been time for that for a long time now."

During the small pause that had hung in between her question and his answer, Orihime had seen Ichigo's face change from a worried one, to the scowl he always used to wear in the past, to a warm and soft one, but that still held a gleam of determination, showing the sincerity of the words he had said.

Orihime felt relieved Ichigo thought that way, but… She still wondered about something. "Say, Ichigo", she begun again, "You said it's been time for that for a long time now", mimicking his voice while repeating his words, "but then, why did you always avoid to let the conversation drift towards the topic of having children, up until now that is?"

Again, a pause fell in between them.

Then Ichigo sighed, looked away for a second, and then looked back at her again. "It's just…" he said, "It's just, you know they'll all probably have orange hair, do you?"

A/N Thank you very much for reading until the end! Let me know what you think (if you want to). Also, if you found any mistakes on grammar or spelling, don't hesitate to let me know. I'm also open to any other suggestion that could improve my writing, if I were ever to write another story.
