'You looked wonderful out there' that was all that Baby could think about as she drove to the hospital that night. This was a phrase that her dad had said to her all those years ago that night at Kellerman's that had changed her life forever. The night that Jonny had told the world that he loved her. Her beautiful wonderful Jonny… Things had been great at first, she had gone off to college and he took a job near her campus teaching a dance class, he still went back to Kellerman's for the summer season. It was now their third summer apart and things hadn't been going so well. Jonny didn't like her college friends who she knew looked down their nose at him. She thought he wasn't trying hard enough. Just before he left they had a massive fight. She couldn't remember now what it was about but they had both said some awful things.
She had a call from Mr Kellerman himself that day telling her that there had been an accident. Jonny's legs trapped in his car and he was unconscious. She just wanted to get there and tell him how sorry she was and that she still loved him. If only she could get there on time.
Traffic was bad, it was raining. She also had something else to tell him. She had realised that morning why she had been so off with him, why she had been throwing up for the last 2 weeks and why her period was late. A visit to her doctor had confirmed it. She needed to tell him about the baby, give him a reason to hang on.
Finally she pulled up at the hospital, tears were now streaming down her face, she looked and felt distraught, 'Jonny Castle please' The nurse on the desk seemed to take an age. She directed Baby to intensive care. When she got there, she saw all of Jonny's friends including Penny. One look at her face and Baby knew it wasn't good. She enveloped Baby in a massive hug. 'Oh Baby Baby, they say he might not walk again' she struggled to speak through her tears. 'I don't know what he'll do if he can't dance again Baby, I just don't know'.
Baby took a deep breath and went into his room, the nurse firmly told her she could have five minutes. He opened his beautiful eyes, now filled with tears when he saw her. 'I'm sorry honey' he croaked. She ran to him, wrapping her arms around him, 'you'll be fine' she cooed stroking his hair. 'I didn't want to tell you like this, but we are having a baby'. He immediately looked dumbfounded, then delighted then in pain. The nurse chose that moment to come back into the room giving him pain relief. As she was leaving she kissed his face and his hands, he grasped her like a drowning man before he said '
Miss Francis Houseman, will you marry me?
