Summary: Sometimes freedom costs more than you d think.
Rapunzel held back a shudder as her sobs increased in frequency. Pretty soon she wouldn't have any tears left. Was this how the world worked?
"I'm done!" Rapunzel screeched, boiling tears sliding down her cheeks. "I'm DONE! I'm done joking around! This isn't funny anymore!"
Her little hands ripped through her hair, what little she had left, pulling out clumps but she didn't stop. She let her screams drift through the walls, to the top of the tower. She didn't care who saw her tear herself apart. Rapunzel clenched her eyelids shut. Maybe if she kept them closed long enough, she would wake up. Flynn would shoot up laughing about how good he got her and how she should really see the look on her face right now. And Pascal would squawk and they would all laugh and she'd want to hit Flynn but she wouldn't.
Why wasn't he waking up? She had done everything right. She sang the song and even saw the magic herself. Maybe she forgot a verse? But that couldn't be. She's always remembered every single word ever since she was a little girl. Words were important, the ones in the song even more so. Of course she wouldn't forget a word. Maybe it was because she didn't wrap him with her hair right? Oh god. What did she do wrong? Was it really her fault that Flynn wasn't waking up? Rapunzel could even swear she heard Gothel's voice in the back of her head saying "One way or another something will go wrong, I swear."
Is this what she meant? Was Flynn never going to wake up because she left the tower? Should she have stayed home?
