It was Ironic,

Platonic Ironic.

It was with irony that he complained so much, sought power so harshly, and hated oh so easily due to a choice. A simple choice, not his, an old man's.

The decision had been an easy one; it was between both his student and his student's student. It was generational, it spanned both past and future, it was dependent on everyone that surrounded it.

His choice was good and fair for the village, was it not?

It was Ironic,

Platonic Ironic.

His choice saved the village from a demon yet his choice released upon the village the lifetime hatred of another demon, a serpentine one. It was the hatred of a second choice demon.

The second choice…most people would be honored to even be considered a second choice.

The choice of whom to appoint to the unassailable post of the great Lord Hokage was not what was expected for some.

It was Ironic,

Platonic Ironic.

His, the one with a serpent tongue, his hatred stemmed from a life of eternal second choices, and it was with irony that he didn't even give his subordinates that much. He showed no sentiment, and he felt nothing but hate and pleasure in evil.

He blames the old man.

If only he had been able to see the whole of it.

People thank the old man for, without thinking, choosing the vicious snake king as second.

It was because he, the second choice, will never be the first, even in his own life.
