Disclaimer: Dear Santa, for Christmas, I want to own the copyright to Harry Potter. Love From, Lyra Dogstar. Well, until then everything here belongs to J. K. Rowling. Also, I don't own anything from The Thorn Birds. Sorry.

" ' Today, when those wretched chaps were pulling her dolly about she just stood there as if her whole world was falling to bits.' he looked down at the doll who was wearing her hair again. 'Agnes! Where on earth did she get a name like that?'"
Regulus sat on the window seat with his brother, listening to the older boy read. At first, when Sirius had pulled out the book, Regulus casually asked, completely out of boredom, for Sirius to read it to him. Never did he expect for a muggle book to be so interesting.
Sirius was a rather tall boy at thirteen. Like the rest of the family, he had been graced with fair skin that contrasted greatly with his dark eyes and hair. He was rather gangly, but the year of Quidditch in school had showed a definite change in him. At first Regulus wasn't quite sure what it was; Sirius was more muscular than when he had last really looked. His posture was much improved, and his already fierce eyes were even more so.
Regulus, on the other hand, was rather shorter, and he spent more time inside than his family, so that he looked even more pale for lack of sunlight. Regulus eyes didn't shine wildly the way his brother's did either, but were more calculating, thinking everything through before hand.
Just as Sirius was finishing the chapter, the door creaked open. Both looked toward the entry, and by the dim candlelight they could see their mother.
As young as Angelina Black was, thin lines already showed on her face. She was able to hide them during the day, when she had makeup on. She had a black shawl wrapped around her shoulders, and it seemed she was in her dressing gown.
"What are you two doing?" she asked.
"Reading," Sirius said, without hesitation.
Angelina strode across the room and took the book from Sirius' hands. She skimmed through the pages and looked at the cover.
"Muggle book," she said, "about the working class…… you always did have a strange choice in your reading selection."
"It's an interesting book," Sirius said, which only caused Angelina to sneer.
"It pronounces the ignorance muggles, and especially the working class," Regulus said. Glancing at Sirius. His brother may be reckless, but he wasn't stupid. He knew to let Regulus deal with this. Regulus knew how to manipulate his mother and get her to do what they wanted, by simply changing words around.
Angelina sneered again and threw the book in Sirius' lap. "You two should get to bed. It's getting late, and I don't want to have to rush in the morning." She marched out of the room.
Sirius sighed, and glanced at his watch. "She's right," he said. "it's nearly twelve-thirty."
Regulus was constantly torn between the opinions of his parents and his brother. They were both very intelligent, and he never knew which to follow. So on the rare occasion that Sirius did agree with his mother, Regulus was positive that it must be right.
