I just had to write this, because who doesn't love a crazy Rukia? Just remember: this is humor, and as such, hyperbole applies. I own nothing.

Ishida comes to a conclusion one day while he's repairing the seam on a neighbor's table cloth. The white cloth is spread out over his kitchen table (a card table gotten from a second-hand store, and really sturdy too considering all the abuse it's taken over the years) and Ishida, having finished pulling out the messed up seam, starts the process of putting pins in to sew a new one

The air is still hot and disgruntled from Rukia's rant five minutes beforehand; Ishida could clearly remember seeing little wisps of steam rising from her ears. Rukia was less than pleased when her lengthy description of exactly what it was in life that pissed her off didn't get precisely the reaction out of Ishida that she'd wanted. Really, he was too busy to pay attention to her while she ranted; what did she expect?

Rukia left when Ishida told her not to throw anything. Apparently asking Rukia not to break up housekeeping was an unreasonable request. He's pretty sure he heard the windowpanes rattle in their frame when she slammed the door behind her.

Now, needle in hand, Ishida is coming to that realization mentioned earlier.

I think I finally have an operative adjective for Kuchiki-san. 'Crazy' and 'Psychotic' were good, but this one is even better.

The phrase he's speaking of, of course, is 'high maintenance'.

Because really, isn't it such a good phrase to use when describing Kuchiki Rukia? She's loud and insists on having the attention of all those around her. When she enters a new house if she isn't hiding there then she demands food and proper accommodations for as long as she's staying. And from there, well…

Her name may as well mean 'high maintenance', as well as Ishida's concerned.

I honestly don't know why I'm putting up with any of this. Before he knows it, Ishida's gotten one end of the tablecloth re-seamed and starts on the next, frowning slightly as he avoids the pins.

And why does she keep coming around here anyway? If she wants sympathy she ought to go to Inoue-san. Kuchiki-san can't possibly like it when I don't react to her little rants as much as she'd like so why exactly…

Ishida decides it might be better not to contemplate too closely on that question.

There's no doubt about it, Rukia is definitely high maintenance. What makes it possibly worse is that she's plainly aware of this fact and plays off of it, knowing that there are few willing to brave her wrath when she's truly enraged.

So why exactly does Ishida choose to put up with Rukia's loud, aggravated and at times downright piercing grabs for attention?

Well, there's something about that smile she wears when she doesn't want to kick Kurosaki's nose in.

And he has to admit, there's a certain charm to the way she says "I'm hungry" and the way her forehead scrunches up when she's about to start shouting.

…Or maybe Ishida's just insane.

Yeah, that's probably it. Insanity's pretty much the only explanation for boys who think there's something "charming" about the mischievous, heralding-the-end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it grins of high maintenance midget Shinigami.
