birdy
setup: The two of them have become friends just a few weeks ago, but they're not as close yet, as they'll be in the near future. Varian is searching for
materials, when he finds Lashanie practice her singing. It's the first time, he actually hears her singing voice. (Pre Season 1)
Vary: So there you are!
Lashi: WHA..., Vary!
Vary: Oh no, don't bother. Just keep singing, it sounds nice.
She looks at the ground, talking quietly.
Lashi: I can't, if you listen.
Vary: But you're always singing in front of people, when you go to Corona.
Lashi: Yeah, but they don't really know me, so it doesn't bother me, if they don't like my singing.
Vary: I see. But I do like your voice.
Lashi: That's sweet of you to say.
Vary: It reminds me of the twittering of little birds.
For a moment she just stares at him, not sure what to say, but then she laughs. It's a bright, endearing laugh.
Lashi: I'll take that as a compliment.
Vary: You should, it was meant to be one.
He walks closer.
Vary: Maybe I should call you Birdy as nickname, instead of Lashi?
She tilts her head.
Vary: Only if you like it, of course.
Lashi: I do. Birdy sounds sweet.
Varian sits down next to her.
Vary: So, what's that song, you've been singing?
Lashi: It's lullaby for a stormy night.
Vary: Would you mind singing it once more?
Lashi: Alright, I'll sing for you. But you promise, you won't laugh at me!
Vary: I promise.
They stay there for a while and later Lashi teaches him the lyrics of the song and encourages him, to sing along with her. When they're back home, the song's still stuck inside his head, just as the voice that sang it to him.
sunset
setup: Varian and Lashanie are watching the sunset together. At this point, the black rocks are all over the place in Old Corona & it just seems to get worse with each passing day (Season 1)
Lashi: Pretty.
Vary: Sure is.
Lashi: It's so peaceful right now. Almost, like all of the problems here, don't exist.
He looks at her, a little concerned about these words.
Vary: It really gets to you, huh?
Lashi: Of course it does! And I know you're worried too. You can't hide that from me.
She says this, with her eyes locked on his. A frown shows on his face, as he turns back to the scenery in front of them.
Vary: Mhh, it's been some exhausting days...
Lashi: I know. It's not like there was no life possible here anymore, but what if it won't stop and the rocks keep spreading over the whole village?
Vary: They won't! I'm trying to figure out, why they started to appear and how we can get rid of them. Also, my Dad won't let that happen. He'll talk to the king and..., and we'll find a way to stop this.
Varian takes her hand. Now he understands, how much it troubles her.
Lashi: I hope you're right. I really do.
Vary: Hey, there is no problem in this world, that can't be solved with Alchemy!
He says smiling, trying to lighten up the mood. And it works, she's smiling back at him.
A cool breeze signalizes the right time to get inside.
They both take a last look at the sun, that's going down in burning colours.
Lashi: I just wish we could life in peace again, having a smile on the face everyday.
Vary: We can. We just have to work this out first.
They walk home, still holding hands, as the last light of the day fades away slowly.
