A/N: My first gossip girl fanfic! Tell me if you like it or not!
The New York Times
Bartholomew Henry Bass passed away Sunday, December 12th at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The entrepreneur and business mogul was caught in the cross fire of a supposed drug deal gone awry, right outside Miami International airport, on his way home to New York City. Bass leaves behind the multi-billion dollar Bass Industries, millions of dollars in stocks and bonds, and several properties around the world, including hotels in Monaco and Dubai. Bass is survived by a son, Charles Bartholomew Bass, born to his first wife, the late Misty Bass, and a daughter, Madelyn Elizabeth Bass, born to Bass' one-time fiancée, the late Sophia Bessette. Also surviving Bass are his second wife, Lillian Bass, and her children, Serena and Eric Van der Woodsen.
The funeral for Bart Bass will be held on December 20th, at St. Bartholomew Church. Doors will not be open for the public.

Good Morning, Upper East Side!
My inbox has been flooded with your emails, with questions ranging anywhere from "Is dressing all in black really required at funerals nowadays?" to "Since his dad's dead, do you think Chuck Bass will be looking for company in the female department?". I swear I had planned on answering these questions and more today but after a loyal source, annabanana09, sent a very interesting picture from JFK airport early this morning, I've decided to take a different approach to today's post.
As you all know by now, our own Bart Bass was tragically killed in Miami over the weekend. What you may not know is what The New York Times reported this morning in his obituary. Most of you are too young to remember but about 12 years ago Bass became engaged to the beautiful French cover girl, Sophia Bessette. Like most engagements on the Upper East Side, it was a long one and during the 3 year engagement, Bessette gave birth to a baby girl. A few months after the birth, Bass and Bessette's engagement broke off and Bessette fled to France with their daughter.
Unfortunately, five years ago Bessette was killed by a drunk driver in Paris, leaving Madelyn Bass without her mother. While Madelyn had known her father all her life, she pleaded to be left at her boarding school in the South of France. Bart obliged , leaving Madelyn Bass a complete mystery to the Upper East Side.
Now why am I telling you this, you may ask. Sure we've seen some pictures of the girl over the years, lounging at her father's hotel in Monaco and partying it up with her half-brother, the one and only Chuck Bass, in Dublin last summer, but we've never actually seen the girl. Her father may have just died but come on, Madelyn Bass wasn't even at her father's wedding last spring, do you really think she'll make an appearance at his funeral?
And that's where annabanana09's picture comes into play. Seen this morning, stepping off one of the many private jets owned by Bass Industries, was a petite, brunette, her face covered by a pair of oversized Gucci sunglasses. Stepping out of a black town car to greet her was none other than Nathaniel Archibald, best friend of Chuck Bass.
Could this really be Madelyn Bass, the infamous daughter no one has ever seen? I don't know about you but I'm willing to put money on it. Send me the deets.
xoxo,
Gossip Girl
