This was actually a Christmas present for my friend Chris, I emailed it to him at the time and have only just got around to uploading it. My first - and probably only - 4th Doctor fic. R&R?!
The Problems Of A Long Scarf
The Doctor loved his scarf, this was a fact that anyone who knew him, knew went without saying. Very rarely did he go anywhere without wearing it, and when he did he almost felt like a part of him was missing. After the TARDIS it was his most treasured posession. But of course having a scarf that reached the ground with both ends while wrapped around his neck a couple of times could cause problems. Here's just a few of them.
1) Nice Trip
The Doctor and Sarah Jane were running. If she was honest, Sarah Jane couldn't really think of a time when her and the Doctor weren't either running or hiding from some monster or another. This time she wasn't even sure what they were running from, the Doctor had just said run so she ran.
The scarf, which was draped around his neck in the usuauly way, was starting to get tangled around the Doctor's feet. Half-heartedly he knocked itout the way only for it to move straight back into place. The Doctor tried to ignore it and concentrated on running. It was a vain attempt though, because only a moment later, for the first time in this lifetime he tripped on his own scarf. He fell forward, flat on his fadce.
Sarah Jane who had been right next to him had seen of coruse and couldn't help but laugh. The Doctor - lying on the ground on his stomach in the position hehad landed in looked up at her and glared 'It's not funny, Sarah'
Sarah Jane just laughed more, before eventually helping him up and making the scarf safer. Then they carried on runnig,
2) A Need To Breathe
Sarah Janer tapped her foot impatiently as the Doctor wrapped his scarf around his neck. They had landed a full three minutes ago and she wanted to get out and explore.
'Ready?' the Doctor asked, marching straight passed Sarah Jane when he was ready. Sarah Jane smiled and ran ahead of him out of he TARDIS. The Doctir followed her out, closing the door behind him. He tried to continue walking but something stopped him. Some pull was keeping him back. He pulled hard against it and felt his scarf pull tight against his neck. 'Ahh' he choked, getting Sarah Jane's attention.
She rolled her eyes, typical, a scarf problem. She looked back and saw one end of the scarf was caught in the TARDIS door, while the other end was strangling the Doctor. She ran back and opened the TARDIS door to feel that end, before looking the other end's grip on the Doctor's nesk.
'Sarah Jane Smith' the Doctor moaned 'You should act quicker when someone is being strangled by their scarf'
'Yes and you should be more careful' replied Sarah Jane and she started to walk on.
3) Light Problem
'Sarah' The Doctor's voice sounded slightly muffled. 'Saaarah'
Sarah Jane turned to face him. His face wasn't visable, only a mass of colour. His scarf had blown in the wind in front of his face, and despite the Doctor's efforts to move it out the way, it seemed to insist on staying there.
'A little help' came the Doctor's muffled voice. 'Please'
'Doctor, watch out!' Sarah Jane called, just a second too late.
The Doctor, blinded by his scarf couldn't see what he was supposed to be watching out for, and walked straight into a lamppost.
'Ow' he moaned. He pulled the scarf away from his face and turned to Sarah Jane 'Why didn't you warn me?'
'I did!' she insisted. 'That scarf is dangerous. You should get rid of it'
The Doctor gasped in horror, clutching his scarf protectively 'Never!'
