He awoke to the strong smell of eggs wafting through the loft. He peered over
toward his wife's side of the bed and sure enough she was gone. Katherine
Castle, his wife. He loved that idea. He slipped on his
robe and padded into the kitchen. She hadn't noticed him yet, and he took that opportunity to slip up behind her and place his arms around her waist. He felt her tense under him, but decided to ignore it.
"Morning beautiful, making your husband eggs?" She tensed again, this time more noticeable.
"I wanted to make pancakes." She said icily. Was something wrong?
"Why didn't you?" He made sure to utter his words carefully.
She spun around, knocking his arm from her. "Someone," she said pointedly "used all the mix."
She then moved from him completely and headed to the cabinets to grab plates.
"And that upset you?" Oh God, why the hell did he say that?
"Yes, Castle it upset me! I mean, you are not the only one who pancakes around here! You could at least be kind enough to replace the mix when you use it!" She stormed off and stood by the couch. He walked over to her and sat on the arm of the couch in front of her. He placed his arms back around her waist and tugged her closer.
"Hey, look at me. I'm sorry, ok? I should've thought about it. About you. I'm sorry. I'm an inconsiderate jerk." He tried at a joke, but noticed tears brimming over her eyes.
"No you're not," she said shakily "you're wonderful and I'm just being stupid and wrong and I'm sorry."
She collapsed and his shoulder and it was all he could do to not burst out in laughter.
"It's alright. I know you're hormones are everywhere right now," he pulled her back and placed his hands on her barely there baby bump "but it'll all be worth it soon."
She kissed him. "You're amazing, you know that?"
"Eh, so I've been told."
He kissed her and this time, he didn't let go. He love her so much and soon, he'd have another little Castle to love. He couldn't wait. All the hormones in the world were worth it.
