Three days ago, Sam was dealing. Three days ago (or however you measure them— it's hard to keep track after an eternity of Tuesdays and that infinite first Wednesday) he still had time.
He doesn't remember Sunday or Monday that well, the details buried in a lifetime of heartache.
But they were better than this, than knowing how it'll be if he doesn't save Dean. Sam lived it once (sleepwalked through it with a heart of stone and vengeance), but once is all he's good for.
He'll take everyone and everything down with him to keep from living that again.
