[A/N: So this is kind of a tag to last night's episode (gosh dang that was a great episode), but I wrote it on Friday, so it might not exactly match all up? Anyway, you can be the judge of is my first attempt at writing fanfiction, so it might not be too rad.

Jane swung open Lisbon's office door, striding into the small capacity. "Yes, Lisbon?" He questioned her by way of greeting. She had called him, telling him to come by the office so she could fill him in on the case over an hour ago, however, he simply could not come without stopping to pick up the brunette a large coffee and delectable bear claw first.
He placed the drink and pastry on the Senior Agent's desk, taking a seat across the table on the standard plastic chair he had grown accustomed to ever since Lisbon had been rescued from the dreadful abandoned house Brett Partridge had been found dead in. He needed to be closer to her now more than ever.
Lisbon glared at Jane for being late, but then gave him a small, quick smile in thanks for the treats he had brought her. "So, for the Blackwell case, Grace looked back in their phone records and..." Jane studied Lisbon as she continued to ramble about their case, half-listening. The small cuts and scratches on her arms and neck were beginning to fade, he noticed with delight. The bloody red smile that had been on her face when he had found her was long gone, but Jane could still close his eyes and in a moment have it be aroused from a chamber in his memory palace. He shuddered for a moment, not wanting to remember the broken, weak form Lisbon had been in.
"Jane?" Lisbon asked, slightly irritated. In just a minuscule moment, Jane was snapped out of his half-trance. He startled imperceptibly, blinking swiftly and looking up at his boss.
"Uh, yes..." He told her, gathering his thoughts back to the case. "The uncle did it, yes..."
"Were you listening?" Lisbon asked, crossing her arms across her chest sullenly. Her gaze softened noticeably when she noticed the distracted gleam in Jane's eyes. "You all right?" Was her next question, which Jane answered quickly.
"Oh, yeah, Lisbon, of course I'm okay," he grinned at her, standing to his feet. "Just thinking about... Red John." He sighed deeply, arms swinging loosely at his sides.
Lisbon leaned over her desk, placing her weight on the heels of her hands. "You know, Jane, if there's something happening in the case, you can tell me." She laughed slightly, "Though, technically I guess you're obligated to tell me, seeing as I'm your boss."
Jane glanced at her, holding her emerald green gaze in his sapphire blue one. They stood still for a moment, Lisbon leaned over her desk and Jane standing on the other side, their faces merely inches apart.
Jane glanced at Lisbon's lips and then back at her eyes, which seemed to snap him out of the frozen state.
"Yeah," he cleared his throat, backing towards the door. "I'll keep you informed." He reached his hand towards the handle of Lisbon's office door, softly opening it and taking a small step into the CBI hallway. He lingered there for a moment, watching as Lisbon settled back into her desk chair, cheekbones tinged with a rosy blush. She took the coffee Jane had so graciously gotten for her and took a long sip, flipping open another case file as she swallowed. She turned her gaze towards her office door, sensing Jane lingering, and blushing deeper when she saw he was still watching her.
"What?" She asked him promptly, taking a small, but passionate bite of her bear claw.
"Mm, nothing," Jane replied, eyes twinkling. "I'm just glad you're back, Teresa."
And with that, he left into the bullpen, allowing the door to slam behind him.
