I give up. What is this mess?
Bakura never should have given the ring to that archeologist. He could trace all his current problems back to that decision.
At first, it had seemed an ideal situation. Not only had he gained a new host, he could attend the same school as Yugi Mutou: the bearer of the Millenium Puzzle.
Everything had worked until right around the Battle City finals. That was when he met Marik, quite possibly the most obnoxious, clueless, annoying idiot he had ever met.
So naturally, Bakura fell in love with the fool.
At first, he had tried to dismiss it as lust. After all, he had experience with that. With 3000 years inside a ring with nothing to do, he had become accustomed to it.
Unfortunately, it quickly became clear that his feelings went beyond the physical. After all, there were plenty of people more attractive than Marik who might SHUT UP once in a while.
Which meant he was stuck.
Even that might have been tolerable on its own. After all, the plan meant that they didn't have to interact that much. But no, nothing could ever be that simple for Bakura.
He had to fall in love with his host at the same time.
At least Marik was evil. Ryou was quite possibly the most innocent person on the planet.
There was also the fact that he didn't really know Marik. He'd been systematically ruining his host's life the entire time they had known each other.
But worst of all, Marik was clueless. Ryou, while not particularly perceptive, shared a body with Bakura. Unless he was constantly on his guard, Ryou's suspicions could be aroused.
And neither of them could know, Bakura told himself. Marik was so dense, it'd take 50 tries to get through to him. There was no way he'd be willing to repeat something that sappy so many times, so saying it even once was out of the option.
And as for his host? How would that even work? "I know I've been ruining your life and trying to kill your friends, but now I'm in love with you, so let's just ignore that."
No, it would never work with either of them. So instead, he just said nothing and acted as normal as he knew how.
After all, he had abandoned his heart long ago. Surely it couldn't be breaking.
