CONFUSED YET INTERESTED

WRITTEN BY ZARIUS

Lisa peddled feverishly across the bridge, eager to put some distance between her and her father's car as it sped along it en route to home.

She wanted to really put her new bycycle through it's paces with the amount of books strapped to the back. She hoped the weight of the paperbacks would not cause it tip over and smack her head on the concrete.

She knew her dad was being deliberatly slow and giving her an advantage, but she still had a strong desire to tease him with his show of mercy as soon as she "won" the race.

She suddenly spotted someone standing on the bridge, and the disastraction proved so mesmerising she pulled over to the side and leapt off the bycycle, which, wihout her strained support, was swiflty pinned down by the weight of the books attached to the back of the extra saddle.

Her father of course could not resist such a gift-wrapped oppertunity and had a dig at her expense

"Ha, the early worm catches the book bird" he said.

"Why dad, how poetic of you" Lisa replied, "At least it would be if you hadn't mixed the bird and the worm up"

An annoyed grunt was all she could hear in reply.

Her father's car sped away and Lisa turned back to the person stationed at the center of the bridge

"What are you doing Ralph?" Lisa asked.

Ralph urged her to be quiet as he spotted several cars race by beneath them.

"$280, $340, and that one is stolen" he said excitedly.

Lisa was a little taken aback by what he was saying, and then she smiled to herself. It was typical behaviour on the part of the young Wiggum.

"I think Bart and Milhouse came up here once" Lisa replied as she joined Ralph looking over the bridge and taking in a vast and clear view of Springfield.

"I like looking at each car and guessing how much they cost just by looking at them"

"I doubt you're ever really accurate, or is that the fun of it?" Lisa asked, smiling.

"It keeps me interested in numbers...Dad says it just confuses him though" Ralph said, scratching his head.

Lisa leaned over and kissed him on the cheek.

"Do you know what I'm thinking?" she says.

"You're confused too?" Ralph replied.

"Sure am. Confused, but interested" she said.

They looked out at the breathtaking sight of the city, and enjoyed an hour or so in each other's company guessing the expenses of the cars moving by
