Beneath Their Masks
Chapter One: A Selfless Act Gone Wrong/Introduction
Ughh, this train is packed! Akira just about forced himself into a rare space on the Tokyo subway. He wasn't used to living here yet (considering he just got sent out yesterday), but it was already starting to suck. He was suffering through this all because of a selfless act gone horribly wrong. It all started a few weeks ago. *A small harp plays in the distance.*
He was walking home from school, staring down at his muddied shoes. A woman's shriek disrupts his thoughts, as he rushes over to the commotion. A man, obviously drunk and delusional, was pressuring her into… something (Akira has tried to oppress this memory in the last few days). Anyway, Akira, being the noble person he is, steps in, not being able to sit and watch such an abhorrent act in progress. He expected to save the woman, get some praise and go home.
Seeing as he is squeezed on the Tokyo subway and not home in Kyoto, it didn't go quite like that. Police were involved and he was put on probation in the Capital City of Japan, a stark contrast to the quiet place he was raised in. Oh, I think this is my stop…
