Hey there everyone! So here's the deal. I finish school in two weeks and I am not taking any classes in the summer, so if there is anyone still out there who is interested in Sins of the Father, I promise you, there will be updates coming soon. Just give me a couple of weeks. In the mean time, and because you are awesome, I bring you this drabble thingy. Enjoy and please do not give up on me!
It Will Be Worth It
"Kate?" Jack called as he walked into the house, "Kate? Are you here?"
Kate froze in her place, gasped a little but tried to remain as quiet as possible. She did not want to be found just then.
"Kate? Where are you?" he asked as he made his way through the house. But Kate remained as silent as possible, hoping he would give up searching for her before he finds her. It was when she shifted slightly to peak through the crack in the ajar door that the chair below her squeaked. She bit her lip and prepared for him to come walking into their bedroom.
"There you are!" he exclaimed as he walked in, quickly looking around to study what she had done to the room. The contents of the closet lay scattered all over the floor and bed, the drawers were open and rummaged through and at that moment, she was standing on her tiptoes on a chair, searching the top of the closet. She looked at him, a mischievous smile and a guilty blush on her features.
"Hi," she said innocently, nonchalantly brushing a curl of hair of her face and leaning casually against the closet.
"Hi yourself," he answered, finishing his scan of the room, looking up at her with an amused smile on his lips, "what are you up to?"
"Oh, nothing much," she answered, still perched on the chair, "got in the mood to do some cleaning."
"Kateā¦" he said, tilting his head accusingly.
"What, Jack?! You know I hate this!" Kate huffed in exasperation.
Jack dropped his head with a hearty laugh, "I know you do," he smirked.
"Can't you just give me little hint?" she said, pouting her lip, trying to coax him into admitting what she had been dying to know for days.
"No, I cannot, and you need to stop turning the house upside down every day," he said softly, stepping forward, reaching up to wrap his arms around her waist, his face standing level with her stomach.
"But you can't tell me you've already bought my birthday present and not tell me where you've hidden it," she whined playfully.
"You do know what a surprise is, right?" he laughed.
Before she could say another word, his hand had held tightly to her waist and he lifted her of the chair. She squealed at his action and held tightly to his shoulders. As he came to put her down on her feet, she took the opportunity and wrapped her legs around his waist, a move he gladly welcomed.
"Hi," she whispered softly, when their faces became level.
"Hi," he said back, holding her gaze.
They just stood there like that for a moment, him holding her, her legs wrapped around his waist, arms around his neck, in the middle of a messy room, just looking into each others' eyes.
And then he kissed her, short and soft and sweet, "two more days," he whispered against her lips, "I promise, it will be worth it."
