"The Knight of the Mushroom Kingdom"
Fly, jump, fire, run
Bowser's plans must be undone.
A princess needs saving, the kingdom needs it too.
The fate of the world is depending on you!
The game is on the screen, and a controller is in your hand;
The need of your aid is in high demand.
Lives are many, but time is short.
You'll use a cheat-code as a last resort.
But you don't need it, for you have skill;
Crushing goombas with your feet gives you a thrill.
Your brow is hard, and your hands are quite sweaty.
Mother has informed you that "Dinner is ready!"
You ignore the call, you crave not for food.
Your friends leave to eat and say, "C'mon dude!
"Give me a minute!" it's all the time you need,
To fight the overwhelming urge to feed.
You're getting close, you're almost there;
Just one level more and you'll rescue the princess fair!
The screen goes black, joy turns to fear.
And who is it that should appear?
Dear old dad has turned the T.V off.
He puts down the remote and lets out a cough.
His hand urges you to the table to sit down and feast;
But the only thing you want to do is, clash with a Koopa-beast.
A glorious meal is on display tonight.
You eat very quickly, so you can finish the fight.
Your progress has been stopped, an event you could not have foreseen.
Your siblings claim the clicker, they now control the screen!
With your head held low, and faced with defeat,
You sulk off to your room, your hole, your retreat.
The night grows late; your eyes are puffy and red.
You crawl into the dreamland that is your bed.
Your dreams take you to places both dangerous and fun.
With you dressed as the plumber who is forced to run.
Pass the goals, and across the lands.
In this world, your imagination expands!
The journey isn't easy; in fact it's a hassle.
Especially when a Toad tells you that, "The Princess is in another castle!"
Yet, you aren't discouraged, you venture with all your might.
With a burning desire inside of you to, set everything right.
To banish evil and let peace shine through;
Plus, saving a hot princess sounds pretty good to you.
Why must you do it, to complete this task?
Well… if you really must ask.
The answer is simple and clean, as a gamer should know.
It is a rite of passage that a knight must go.
Through the endless oceans, and the grassy plains,
To the sandy desert, plus the fire world and its flames.
To make everyone's faces smile happy and bright.
That is the duty of a gamer, a plumber, and a knight.
