Disclaimer: I don't own Monk and I don't own Leland or Trudy for that matter. If I owned Trudy she'd still be alive
Leland sighed. He was extremely irritable today.
"You okay," Trudy asked.
"Me and Karen had a fight," he explained, "I'm kind of worried now that she's going to stop loving me because she was mad at me for the way I acted"
"Yeah that's probably about the dumbest thing I ever heard," Trudy told him, "And I've heard A LOT of dumb things."
"When you and Monk were in the situation-"
"He didn't act the same way you did. So what? I wouldn't have gotten mad if he did and even if I did get mad at him that doesn't mean I would stop loving him. Couples argue and it strengthens relationships.
"I'll tell you something else," Trudy said, "If a relationship is going to go South because of something like that, because of a fight it's not a relationship that would work well from the beginning. Couples are two people. YES they love each other but that doesn't always mean they're going to agree on everything."
He sighed.
"Do you think I did the right thing?"
"I think you should have been on board with her from the get go," Trudy said, "and this situation wouldn't have spiraled out of control the way it did. Do I think you did the right thing? I don't really think it's a matter of the right thing or the wrong thing. You did what you thought was right.
"Do I think you should give up? ABSOLUTELY NOT! This isn't about facts and it's not about putting your energy into something that may or may not be. This is about the relationship you share with the woman you love. That is about the family that you love⦠and it doesn't matter if you're right or wrong what matters is you need to keep going."
"I don't have your strength," Leland said, "and facts are-"
"Irreverent," Trudy said, "This isn't about facts. This is about what's going on in your heart and what's going on in Karen's heart. You may not agree with each other but you need to realize that love is more powerful then any argument. You have to keep on keeping on"
He smiled a little bit.
"Keep on keeping on huh," he said, "Yeah okay I'll keep on keeping on. I owe that much to her anyway"
"AND you owe it to yourself," she told him"
Adrian walked in at that moment.
"You know Monk," Leland said, "You have yourself one hell of a wife right there. Never forget how precious she is because she made me remember how precious Karen is. I have to go now. I have to make things right with my wife"
