After seeing the Avatar finale, I just had to write this. It's a letter sent years after the fire lord was defeated. Enjoy.
Dear Sokka,
How are you and Suki doing? From your last letter, it sounds like you've finally settled into life on Kyoshi Island. I hope your two girls are behaving themselves in their classes. Last time I saw them they were just infants, but now it sounds like you'll have two more Kyoshi warriors to worry about. Is it true that Ty Lee is teaching them how to hit pressure points? Hopefully they'll stop using your son for practice. Poor little Bumi! He'd better grow soon, or the girls will pick on him forever.
Has Zuko written to you about the news? He and Mai finally have an heir! A little boy and they decided to name him Iroh. I bet General Iroh is giving little Iroh a piggyback ride right now. Zuko had tried to sound blasé about it all, but it was easy to tell he was really excited. They all moved to the house on Ember Island, which they had fixed up. Zuko invited us all to come and visit for a reunion, but he really just wants to show off little Iroh. Mai also wrote in the letter to tell Ty Lee she said hi, and she was curious if Ty Lee has met anyone yet. If she has, you need to tell us who.
Aang and I have decided to live at the Southern Air Temple. You know that we've been working on it for a few years, and it's finally ready for our family to live there. Our son Gyatso is very excited to move there from the South Pole, but our daughter Maya hasn't said much about it. She loves going for walks in the snow, but I know that she'll love the air temple like Aang and I do. Curiosity runs in the family, after all. Even more exciting news, Gyatso has started to learn air bending techniques from Aang! He is learning really quickly, but that means I have two boys riding air scooters to worry about. The only problem is that he loves to show off to all his friends, and he usually gets hurt trying to show off. Most days he drags Maya into it too, so I have both of them dragging themselves home for healing. Actually, Maya hasn't had a scratch on her the last few days, even though Gyatso swears both of them get cuts and bruises playing. I think Maya has figured out how to water bend, and is healing herself before she gets home. I haven't actually seen her bending yet, but it's only a matter of time.
Since we're moving to the air temple soon, Momo will carry our next letter from there. Take care of yourself, and try to not do anything stupid.
Love,
Katara
P.S. Have you heard from Toph recently? She usually has someone write her letters for her, but we haven't gotten any the past few weeks. I know she's busy teaching at the bending school in Omashu, but she should still keep in touch. Since it is Toph we're talking about, she probably just got distracted with teaching and injuring students. I think she still makes all of her students face the"Melon Lord". If you hear anything from her, let us know.
