AN: Just a quick and short oneshot I came up with while playing Fallout 4. title inspired from the Halo Legends :Prototype animated film. But enough of my ramblings. On to the short story.

It had been a long road for Dominic, or the sole survivor as many had taken to calling him. A road that began with an agony that was almost too much to bear. But he pushed on, he had too and his efforts had born fruit when he had finally managed to find the Institute and his son, though it may have been much different then what he expected. The road hadn't ended there though, indeed it had only just begun. Not only was his son nearly 60 years old, but he was the director of the institute.

The Sole Survivor had set aside every alliance he had known in order to reconnect with the only family he had, and even though it caused him pain to destroy his brother's and sisters on the Prydwen and at the airport, the thought of his family ketp him going. Then life decided to deliver another devastating sucker punch to a man who had already lost so much, his son was terminally ill and passed away shortly after finally being reunited with his father.

It drove him to the brink of suicide, but just before he was capable of doing the deed, he had recalled one final, last chance. Doctor Amari was capable of transfering the memories from humans to machines..Was it possible?

Even now as the recently dethawed body of his wife was being worked on by Amari, he had his doubts. Was it worth it? Could synth's really possess free will and emotions?

The doubts in his mind were erased when his wife took a breath for the first time in over fifty years.

Synth's were not just machines, they were more. All they had to do was be..Human.
