Who was he really America; Alfred F. Jones
Savior Enemy
Captor Lover Destroyer
Brother Ally Friend
He was all of these to Amelia Jones. The former confederate States of America now reduced to a ghost who staved off the lingering feeling of hate and resentment she bore from him so long ago.
The past. It was everything to her. Yet to him it was Nothing. Nothing at all.
"Who are you?" a bright smile childish and innocent coming form the little boy who so resembled herself.
"I am you." A simple answer yet so confusing for a child at that age though at the time she was a child herself. She gave a small smile noticing his confused face and reiterated."I am You and You are Me and We are this Land"
"huh?" he still didn't get it. "Soo... thats why you go wherever I go?"
"Well ...yes I think so" replied the girl smiling softly as the younger America took her hand in his.
"Yay then we'll be Together Forever! It's a promise!" Both children smiled.
-End of flashback-
To him only the future and present mattered now while she still felt stuck in the past.
She realized that. She was different. He was different.
He built up smoking factories while she tilled the land.
He had wild new ideas while she stuck firmly to her traditional ones.
He flourished while she fell.
And as years passed on She no longer felt like a part of him.
But that was fine. She was Fine. It simply meant things needs to Change.
So she left.
He never bothered with her before.
So why then why did he keep chasing after her now?
"I won't let you go! I'm the hero I'm supposed to save everyone!"
"Idiot? Don't you get it...I am not the damsel in distress..." Tears now were pouring for her eyes in anger, sadness and foolish sentimentality. but how I wanted to be was left unsaid because it was foolish to think such things not when she was...
"I am the villain"
It was with these words that she let go of the trigger and let the bullet fly. Breaking any bond that was once there. For after all...
You are the Hero and I am the Villain.
