"Applebloom dear, do you want to hear a story?" "A story about what Granny?" "Your mother." Applejack, who had just walked into the room, found her eyes tearing up. "Are you sure she's ready to hear the story Granny?" "Applejack, I'm 13, I can handle it." Applebloom replied impatiently. "Ok, if you say so." Applejack said, sitting down next to her sister. "I could use a reminder myself." Granny Smith cleared her throat, then sighed, proceeding to take a deep breath. "So, your mother...her name was Albany Beauty. I was getting pretty old to be having foals when she was born. The doctor was afraid that the girl would turn out to be some kind of nutso." The story went on and on. "That girl protested to the high heavens above Celestia's throne when your daddy came knocking on the farmhouse door asking her out. Then the years past. Those two wild kids got married in the West Orchard one spring when the blossoms fell from the trees. She looked so much like her daddy." "Her daddy?" Applebloom said. "Applebloom, don't interupt." Applejack snapped. "Applejack, she's just a spry youngin' like your mama was when her big siblings would play with her in the orchard, that girl loved her family to pieces...which brings me to the day she was gone." Applejack gasped, trying not to cry. "Applejack, you want to tell this part? You sure saw it first hoof." Applejack sighed, trying to get ahold of herself. "So...Applebloom...you were just a little baby when Mama died. We were out in the South Orchard, when..." "When what Applejack?" "Patience youngin', this is hard for her too." "When...when the timberwolves showed up. She sprung into action, trying to keep them wolves away from the farmhouse..."
During The Timberwolf Fight (13 years ago): "Applejack, run! Run and go to the farmhouse where it's safe!" "Mama, NO! I won't leave you!" "Applejack go!" "Ok...ok mama!"
"Mama, mama no! Come with me, come on mama, get up! Get up! No, mama!"
Present:
Applejack was crying. "She...she told me to run, but I couldn't leave her. By the time I started running, and looked back to see if she was behind me...the wolves were gone and I saw what they had done." "She was lying on the ground, blood coming out of her in at least a dozen places. She was gone. I sat in the orchard and cried for hours before Big Mac and Granny Smith finally found us." "Albany was gone, and Applejack standing there, had seen it all. This is the first time even I've gotten the full story out of her." Granny Smith finished. "I know it's been 13 years, and she's not coming back, but I...I still miss her...what I'd give to just be able to snuggle her one more time." Applejack ranted, continuing to cry. "You know Applejack, I think you're a lot like mama. That's part of why this is so hard for you." Applebloom said, trying to comfort her sister. "Thanks Bloom, I think you're a lot like her too."
