Marie sat in her room looking out the window. Life had changed here at the mansion. Everyone was so quite and withdrawn. No one wanted to be the first to admit Jean was gone.
Jean stood outside the plane, a wall of water coming at them. Sudden the plane begins to lift. Thought the back hatch, Rogue could just see past Logan. Jean was lifting the plane up. Scott and Logan both shouted for her just as the wall of water engulfed her.
Marie shook her head. It did no good to rembered that day at Alkali Lake. The day had many bad memories. Jean's death. John leaving with Magneto and Mystique. Almost dieing…again. The lost of Jean was going to be hard. But John's betrayal hurt more.
Marie had a bad feeling that John, or Pyro as she was sure he was calling himself now, was lost to her forever.
"Hey, Rogue, wanna go with us to the mall?" Jubilee asked.
"Yeah. Come with us. It'll be fun." Cried Kitty.
Marie just smiled. "You'all go. Tell me what happens."
"Okay. Your loss." Kitty said as they left.
Marie smiled. Jubilation Lee was the best roommate someone like her could want. Kitty was a great friend.
"Rogue? Are you in here?" came a small voice from the door.
"Come in."
The door opened to reviled Flea, Jones, and Peter. Peter looked as if to be stemming a tied as he walked in. Behind him Rogue could see many of the students looking in.
"What's up Flea?" She asked softly.
"What do we do now?" he asked softly.
"What do ya mean?"
"Jean's gone," he said softly," Storm can't handle us on her own. What do we do?"
Marie looked at the faces staring at her through the door. She saw the pain and fear in them that she had. Yet she saw something else. They were looking at her like she had first looked at Logan. And she knew.
"I'll take care of you…I Promise.'
Four Months Later…
Marie sighed; it had been a long night. More and more mutents were coming to the school and Storm, Prof. Xavier, Scott, and Logan were over whelmed. As the unofficial leader of the students, all their anger was put on her shoulders, not to mention the student's complaints.
Bobby passed her in the hall and nodded as he made his way to his room. Their romance had been yet another casualty of Alkin Lake. After Jean..left, Marie had picked up the slack of her job. Bobby had understood at first, but after a few months it was clear that their relationship was on hold and he moved on. Marie felt bad about it but knew that there were more important things going on.
The sudden surge of students was do to new laws passed in a few of the states that said that any one found to be a mutant would be imprisoned and their family members tested for the mutant gene. If the gene was found, the offending person or persons would be 'detained for the safety of their own person and those around them'. Schools like Xavier's School For The Gifted were being flooded with new students as their parents got them away for their own safety.
" Rogue, wait up!" Jubilee cried running down the hall waving a paper," look, they imprisoned Fleas parents."
Marie grabbed the paper and began to read it. So much for an early night." EVERONE TO THEIR DORMROOMS NOW!" She bellowed down the hall. As students rushed to their rooms she smiled. Having part of Logan's personality stuck in her head came in use every now and then. She sighed and made her way toward Xavier's quarters.
