Reeve walked smugly to the meeting room, his files cradled against his chest. He had a stopwatch in one hand and he tossed it as he walked, catching it skillfully and grinning from ear to ear. Today was the day, he had been planning this speech for weeks and now he was going to give it. Every single point of the meeting had been calculated and he was more ready for this speech than for any other he had ever given. He had no doubts about the amount of success he would have by the time the meeting was over.
He set his papers down in front of him and sat in his customary spot, flanked by Scarlet and Heidegger. Tseng was across the table form him and Hojo was pointedly scooting his chair away from the intimidating Turk. Another Turk, Rude, stood watch at the door; there were supposed to be two but it seemed that the red-head who normally accompanied the bald man had either overslept or was hung-over again. It wasn't really necessary for the Turks to be there, they were fairly secure in the Shinra building that was flooded with Soldiers, but President Shinra was paranoid so every meeting had at least one Turk guarding the door.
The meeting started smoothly, everyone was eager for their turn to speak and some were unable to tolerate the routine President Shinra had established. Hojo and Scarlet were told more than once to shut their mouths and Rufus threatened to shoot Heidegger if he laughed one more time. Reeve waited patiently, his hands folded in front of him as he toyed idly with the stopwatch.
Soon enough President Shinra allowed him his turn to speak, much to the very vocal disappointment of everyone present. Even the normally silent Rude gave a small groan of despair. Reeve smiled and stood, turning on the stopwatch as he began his speech.
After three minutes half of the board room was slumped over, struggling to keep their eyes open. Rufus didn't bother to hide his yawns, something that seemed to bother Tseng immensely. This was by far the most boring speech Reeve had given yet.
Once President Shinra's head began to droop Reeve stopped talking about the building plans he had faked and began telling the worst jokes he knew. Only Rude seemed to notice the change.
By minute five even Tseng's head had hit the table, something that Reeve had never before accomplished. Rude was hiding his face in his hand as he tried to control his laughing as Reeve told yet another cheesy joke.
By minute seven, Reeve had run out of jokes and was telling childhood stories to the lightly snoring department heads, waiting patiently for Heidegger's tell-tale snores to rattle the room.
Once the glasses of water on the table began to shake with Heidegger's obnoxiously long, rattling snores Reeve stopped the watch with a small grin on his face. He gathered up his papers and walked to the door, the stopwatch bouncing in his hand. Rude chuckled quietly as Reeve flashed the watch in his direction. "You've set a new record."
Reeve chuckled and stuffed the stopwatch in his pocket. "I'm off to lunch. Make sure they wake up in time to clock out tonight, alright?" Rude chuckled and nodded as Reeve left the room with a spring in his step. He took the stopwatch out of his pocket, tossing it up in the air and catching it with a smile as he cradled his papers to his chest smugly.
