Unlovable Replacement
"Oh my God, you look like crap," Gray commented. His hands clutched on the doorknob
as he tighten his hold on the snacks that he brought for his best friend. His gaze fell upon a certain salmon spiky hair texture with a scaly scarf wrapped around his neck as a comforter for the person to lay his head upon.
Obsidian eyes glared fiercely at Gray. "Wow thanks," Natsu said with a hint of sarcasm. He can't believe this guy. "That's something that I needed to hear."
Gray nodded, trying to lighten the situation his friend was going through. "Anytime, fire-freak." He ignored the way Natsu rolled his eyes and watched as Natsu sunk his head further into his arms.
Gray closed the door before dropping the bag on the table. He sat on the couch, grabbing one bag of chips in the process. "So, I'm taking that you didn't handle the breakup well."
Natsu, finally lifting his head, glared at his friend. Propping his head on the palm of his hands, he replied, "She basically told me that she wasn't happy with our relationship."
Gray raised a brow, incredulous at the response. "Are you serious? She seemed happy to me whenever she was with you."
Natsu laughed bitterly, focusing his gaze to the ceiling of his apartment. "I guess she was acting." Locking eyes with Gray, he blinked. "What the hell are you eating?"
Gray held up his chips to display the title of it as he continued to munch down on his snack. "Hot cheetoes. I got 'em for you cause I know they're your favorite snack."
Natsu scrunched up his nose in disgust. His felt his head pounding loudly from the result of crying this morning. "Get that away from me. I'm not in the mood to eat right now."
Gray licked his lips. "Damn, she really was the love of you life huh," He said. He decided to joke on the matter. "I should've brought ice cream. Don't people be eating that after they experience a breakup?"
Natsu's glare could've killed Gray any second. He looked at his best friend, irritably. "I know you're trying to help ice-freak but I'm really not in the mood." Natsu sighed before asking, "How the hell did you found out about the breakup anyway?"
Gray took a jab at Natsu's appearance. "Dude, take a look at yourself. Your hair is a mess; you have bags under your eyes. Your eyes are still red from crying and there's a box of tissues on the table." He shrugged. "Trust me, anyone can tell."
Natsu grimaced. "I look that bad huh."
Gray nodded. "You look like you haven't slept in weeks." Gray continued to munch on his snack as he watched Natsu played through his messy pink locks. "Dude, you got to get out of this stuffy apartment."
Natsu sighed before nuzzling his neck further into his scarf, recounting the memories of his beloved. "She loved my scarf and now it hurts to even wear it."
Gray rolled his eyes, gagging at the comment. "Oh my god, please don't be such a wimp." He stood up from the couch and wiped the crumbs of his chips that covered his fingertips on his jeans. He tugged on Natsu's shirt. "Come on fire-freak, let's go somewhere."
Natsu lifted his head out of his scarf. He peeked open an eye at his friend. "No let me stay here. I don't want to live in society anymore. Let me stay here and bathe in my misery."
Gray sighed. He was concern over his friend. "Natsu, you have to get over her gradually. Why don't we start by going to Gajeel's party?"
Natsu snorted. "I am not going to his party looking like this. Besides, I bet you she will be there, having fun, completely ignoring our breakup."
Gray cursed, forgetting the possibility that Natsu's ex-girlfriend is going to be there. "When did you to break up exactly?"
"And you're telling me you still looking like shit. Yeah you need to get out more."
"Excuse me, do I have to remind you that she was the love of my life."
"Whatever."
Natsu sighed. It has been a week since they break up and he has been stuck in his apartment the entire time. His breakup had a bad affect on him that he suddenly lost his appetite to eat his favorite foods because it reminded of him of her. It was so bad that he even stalked her social media to see if she was reacting to their breakup the same way he is, but she wasn't. She was out there having fun with her friends while he's in here, gazing at his ceiling being reminded how painful it is to even get up in the morning.
Maybe he did need a distraction.
"When's the party?" Natsu asked.
Gray smiled. "Finally, it's going to be on Friday. Are you going to bring a date?"
Natsu snorted. "Are you kidding? I just broke up with somebody and you already pestering me to bring someone."
Gray shrugged his shoulders. "Hey, it may show what's-her-name that she totally missed out on something."
Natsu moved away from Gray, uncomfortable from his comment. "Dude, please stop sputtering non sense. Don't tell me you develop a crush on me now."
"No you shitty fire-head!" Gray exclaimed, "I'm just trying to cheer you up."
Blatant laughter escaped from Natsu's lips, "I'm joking ice prick."
Gray glared at his friend before an idea popped into his head. He smirked. "I have an idea—"
"Oh God."
"—it might help with your shitty situation," Gray said.
Natsu intrigued by the idea, leaned closely, "I'm listening."
"Have you heard of this app called Fairy Tail? Well you can come up with some key characteristics that you are looking forward to a relationship and the app searches for a person that is compatible to the qualities that you've asked for." Gray explained.
Natsu furrowed his brows together, a cloud of confusion evident in his eyes. "So I'm basically dating a robot or something?"
Gray shook his head. "Not really. These people are real and plus they are paid to do it. Think of it as a dating app, but this app was mainly designed for people who gone through break ups and want a rebound. You can use it to show Lisanna that you're doing fine without her."
Natsu nodded. This idea does sound nice and it can show Lisanna that he was doing great despite him looking and feeling like crap. "Okay I'll do it. Wait, how do you know all this by the way?"
A tint of red was spotted on Gray's cheeks. "Let's just a say a friend of mine introduce me to it."
A howl of laughter filled the room. "Oh my god, you definitely used it, didn't you?"
"Shut up!"
{—X—}
"There, now the app says that she should be arriving in thirty minutes," Gray said as he finally closed the app.
Natsu, near the fridge, raised a brow before drinking his water. "It's like I'm about to receive some type object."
Gray laughed. "Yeah, pretty much."
Natsu was about to comment before he heard a knock on his door. "Who the hell is that?"
Gray walked over to his door before peeping into the small hole. "I don't know it look like some random lady."
"What?" Natsu said before closing his fridge. He walked over to where Gray was at and opened the door. Who the hell is at his door?
Natsu couldn't help but blush as he stared at the scene in front of him.
The lady had blonde hair that was wrapped in a pony tail. Her arms were crossed beneath her large bosom. She was wearing a red plaid t-shirt similar to the one Natsu own and high-waist pants with dark black boots.
The girl's eyes flickered between Natsu and Gray. "Which one of you is Natsu?"
Natsu, fazed by her captivating appearance, reluctantly raised his hand. He squeaked. "I'm Natsu."
He watched as the blonde smirked smugly. She offered her hand as a part of her introduction. "The name's Lucy."
