Chapter I: Prelude
So what is this? AU? Modern-day? I'm not really sure. Maybe it's neither, or both, or just another one of those time-travelers, with the self-proclaimed gaping plotholes and witty, or at least silly, humor. I don't know, to be perfectly honest. Maybe I'm just writing it, because I want it to feel more real than it could possibly be.
Or maybe because it is just that real. You might not want to believe me (and I won't blame you; I wouldn't either!), but… everything I am about to tell you is the complete truth. The places exist; the people exist (don't worry, I've gotten disclaimers from them), the actions exist. All of them, as best as I can remember.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. How does The Sound of Music go? "Let's start at the very beginning… a very good place to start…"
However confusing this story gets, however convoluted and twisted and cliff-hanging craziness it ends up with, it began very, very simply.
It began with a phone call…
