This is a gender bend story I have had in my head for.a long time..it's not great, but I love the idea, if anyone feels interested in it, please let , I would love to see it turned into a story!
Ok..say that when mulan was born, the previous war was done, but there were still attacks on the more rural areas of china, mulans mother was terrified that her baby boy, who had been born a month early (and was frail and sickly as a result) would be made to fight, should the war start back up when he was older, quickly hid the fact mulan was male, even giving him a feminine name, because in that day and age, men were not interested in the affairs of women, and therefore wouldn't have been around when mulan was born, and after being told mulan was female, became disinterested, tho he loved his child, he had been hoping for a son, and while still kind, wasn't around the child, and so never found out the secret...
Mulan grew up being taught to be female, but his male gender always made itself visible, causing him to not be as graceful as other females, clumsy and boyish, with thoughts of adventures, while others assumed he was just an odd girl, mulan was actually a young man struggling to gender, because he was at birth, he never bulked the other males did, his diet and clothes hiding his slim figure and allowing the eye to be tricked into seeing slight womanly curves..
The match maker, after they met, realized that mulan was actually.a male, and threw him from the building, her discust causing her to claim hed never bring honor to his family (not because he spilled tea like in the movie)
After the scene, many heard his secret, mulan was humiliated, and realizing that he'd never be able to be who he wanted to be, fled, filled with the hope that, if he took his father's place, Maybe he would be able to do something useful, as he was face his father after his secret had been told
It follows the story..just with mulan having the same problems for different reasons, realizing he was attracted to males, and the discrimination he faces later in the story, where in the movie it's cause mulan is a woman, in my story it's because he's gay
