"Rose?" The question was asked, but, to the time lord's displeasure, the word received no reply. He let the question float in the air for a few seconds, and looked around the TARDIS console. A serious lack of pink and yellow humans was all he picked up. He was sure she went in here…
Honestly, the Doctor couldn't remember where or who he was at the moment. The past couple hours faded together, it hardly made any sense. To be fair, his adventures rarely do, but this particular quest was much more emotionally draining than the others.
He was just about to turn on his heels and exit, when a just barely audible moan caused the Doctor to stop dead in his tracks. It was both a relief and a worry to hear the quiet noise. It meant he finally found Rose, but it certainly was not a pleasant sound.
He dashed back into the TARDIS, and this time started circling the console, and instantly found what he was afraid he'd see: it was the nineteen year old sprawled across the floor, her hair all over her head and caked with crimson blood, the same as her thin shirt that was now torn and ripped, and also drenched with the liquid. Her face wasn't visible under her blonde hair, but he could tell tears were flowing down that face. That…. brilliant… face…
The Doctor could feel both of his hearts sink into his stomach, and he quickly kneeled beside his friend, trying to move her golden bangs out of her face. Her eyes were unfocused, but she glanced to the Doctor, and let the smile curling at her lips take over.
"I-" She started softly, but was shushed by the man.
"Don't speak.." He murmured, now looking down at the wounds in her torso. He knew they would be fatal, but he refused to admit such a thing. God, she was such a goddess, he can't loose her!
He decided that he simply can't bare to loose her, there's no doubt about it. His mind was so scattered and panicked, he couldn't remember where in the name of Rassilon his supplies for this sort of situation are in the time machine.
So many thoughts swarmed through the time lord's head it was hard to keep up with them all. He was normally good in a crisis! What was wrong? Why can't he focus when the person he loves needs it?
…
Wait.
He just admitted it to himself..
He loved her? The Doctor fell in love with a human girl? No. It wasn't just an ape like the rest of this planet. She was Rose Tyler. The Bad Wolf. Why was he just now realizing this? Right when he about to loose her..
It couldn't be put off any longer. He sharply looked Rose in the eye, and without hesitation…
"Rose Tyler, I-"
But it was too late.
The Doctor paused when he realized that…. Sometime when he came aware of his feelings…. She had simply let go…
The woman that gave new life to an old, sad man was now laying in that same man's home, lifeless. She was just so… Brilliant, the Doctor noted. She turned an angry, gruff time lord into… well, The Doctor as he was now. And that was quite the turn-around.
