Curry Bread
"Oi."
The sound of that boy, Watanuki decided, was like a mosquito buzzing in one's ear. Annoying.
"Oi."
Watanuki twitched, clenching his school bag tight until it squeaked under the pressure.
"Oi."
"WHAT?!" the shout, as usual, drew attention from bystanders. Watanuki, as usual, didn't care. Instead he hissed like a cat, glaring daggers at his apathetic class mate who simply blankly covered his ears, unwilling to listen to his ranting. He'd long ago given up on telling him that his name wasn't 'oi'. "What do you want?!"
Doumeki looked at him without an outward expression. "Make curry bread tomorrow."
Watanuki blanched. There really was no point in complaining, he would end up doing it anyway. But that didn't stop Watanuki at all. "Curry bread?! Are you stupid?! I don't care if tomorrow is the weekend! I have better things to be doing than making food for your ungrateful stomach!"
"I'm not ungrateful." Doumeki cut in blandly.
"Have you ever once said thank you!? All you ever do is ask for seconds! Curry bread is hard to make! I have to wait for the bread to rise, I have to make the curry, I have to cook it just right." Watanuki huffed, walking a little faster to keep up with Doumeki. He quieted down as he began to think out loud. "But I have ingredients at home anyway... I was planning on making curry today too...." sniffing unhappily, Watanuki nodded sagely to himself. "Alright. I'll make your stupid curry bread."
Doumeki didn't reply. But on the inside, he thought that it was too easy to play Watanuki. He was too adorable.
X.x.X
Watanuki sighed. He'd spent all day slaving away in the kitchen, cleaning his house like he was supposed to be only when he had time. He was walking over to Doumeki's house to give him the stupid food he had worked so hard to make.
He walked around the shrine to the house. "I brought the stupid curry bread." Watanuki called, waiting for some one to answer.
As though Doumeki had been waiting for him, he pushed aside the sliding door, taking the bag that Watanuki reluctantly handed to him. "You'd better enjoy it. I worked hard." Watanuki turned away as Doumeki began rifling through the bag, about to begin walking home. He only got about two steps.
"Oi."
"What now?! If you're gonna ask me to make something impossible tomorrow too, I won't do it!" he looked back at Doumeki, one hand on his hip, very closed to shouting out his fury and possibly pulling out all of Doumeki's hair.
"Thanks."
All the anger drained out of Watanuki at that word. He stared at Doumeki. His jaw was very close to dropping. The bastard was smiling. Really, it was just a quirk in the corner of his mouth. But it was a smile. Watanuki felt his face grow hot, and he quickly looked away. "Bastard." he mumbled, before angrily huffing and stomping away, face red.
Doumeki slid the door closed, his barely there smile widening just a bit. Watanuki's face was priceless. He looked cute even when he was yelling and fussing. He took out one of the still warm buns, taking a bite. As usual, it was delicious.
