Waiting by Yuki Ayanami

"Wait for my in Tokyo."

Yakumo Fuji sat atop a high skyscraper, remembering. Waiting, just like she had told him to. When he had first come, a year ago, he had found the tallest building. There, he sat, day after day, week after week, month after month. For a year.

His fingers slipped under his headband and rubbed the sign of his servitude ho her. He sighed.

"Wait for me…"

Sanjian's eyes had been warm when she last spoke to him, last mocked him. All three of them. She told him she would return when Pai had awakened. So he waited. Because he was her wu. Because he loved her. Both of them. Pai and Sanjian. He would wait. For forever, if he had to.

"…in Tokyo."

At least this time he knew. Five years ago, he hadn't. But still he searched. Yakumo searched, and when he found her, it wasn't her. It was Pabo, and Pabo didn't remember anything. Not Sanjian, not Pai, not even her true self, Howasho.

One year was nothing compared to all of the uncertainty he had felt before. At least now he knew that they knew. She would remember this time. She would remember him, and she would remember their mission, and… she would remember her heart. Not that them, together, could compare to what they were going to do.

"When we become human."

Her eyes had been so warm that night. The maroon depths had been trusting, trusting him. The waves had lulled them together, and the moonlight had shrouded them in honesty.

Love. It was a newfound emotion to Yakumo. But she was there. She would always be there, until she left to protect him. Such agony he had felt when he found out she was gone. And through the four years it had taken to find her again. But he had done it. They had done it, together. And so it was easier now.

Yakumo smiled ruefully and rubbed his fingers against his thigh. Memories. That was all that had run through his head for the past year. One would think he would be tired of running through them in his head. But he wasn't. Maybe, when he was old and wrinkled and Pai was by his side, he would set his memories aside, but not now, Not in this instant, with his feet dangling off the edge of a building and the breeze ruffling his hair. Not now. He could have them now, because it gave him something to do, something to think about while he waited for Pai and Sanjian to return to him, until they resumed their search for Kiyenwang, and for Humanity.

"Wait for me in Tokyo."

A/N: Ok, the deal with this. I was watching the end of 3x3 Eyes, and I got this really great fanfiction idea, so I started writing. That was a year ago. I found this while cleaning my room, and I really love it. I just can't remember the plot I had set out. At all. So, unless I remember it, or someone comes up with an idea that I really like… this is it. I'm sorry. I wouldn't have even posted this, but I really liked it and didn't want it to go to waste. So… what do you think? Please review!

Love, Yuki
